Sequoia FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT problem: Has anyone had problem with the Sequoia Fuel Level Sending Unit? My problem is intermittent, and happens once a month or so. When the tank is between 3/4 and 1/4 full, suddenly the no fuel warning ligt comes on and the fuel gauge drops to EMPTY. If I drive with it 5 to 10 miles, the no fuel warning light goes away, and the fuel level goes back to normal. This is definetly a fuel level sending unit problem, but it is intermittent. If you have the problem, please report to the dealer to register problem with Toyota.
(4 problems in 4 months).
Sequoia KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE CONTROL problem: There is a recall as well as special extended warranty on the remote control for the keyless entry. The Sequoia's liftgate window is notorious for being lowered spontaneously on its own. Toyota has a recall and if you call the dealer, they will replace the remote controls free even if the warranty has expired. (6 incidents of liftgate window going down on its own in 4 months).
Sequoia LIFTGATE RELEASE ASSEMBLY problem: If you have had problems with the liftgate release assembly seizing, or the lever that opens the liftgate (lever just above the rear licence plate), please report to Toyota. There could be a special extended warranty on this problem. (I have had 3 problems in past 9 months).

My 2002 with 39k miles on it started the same exact behavior two weeks ago. Today with an almost full tank it went to empty and the light was on. After sitting parked for three hours it returned to normal.

The best way is get your Digital camera and capture when it is happening then bring it with you to the dealer. Also I suggest you send directly to TOYOTA manufacture for a record. It happened to me lately. my oil sending unit from my 2003 Sequoia is malfunction. This happened intermittenly. Some time the needle go all the way dowm to the minimum (rest) level when I hit 70 mile per hour. This scared me to dead!! I brought in dealer at least 3 times, but no luck even I mentioned to them that there is the TSB for this problem. The technician always said "they cannot duplicated". until I used my digital camera and captured the incident then sent directly to Manufacture included the technician name. 2 days later I got a call from Tech Support suggested me to bring in a difference Dealer then the Oil sending unit replaced in about 3 hours. Now it is working normally.

I have had my 2002 Sequoia in three times the past 6 months for the same problem and dealer can't seem to fix it. Fuel gauge drops to empty, fuel light comes on, but there is approximately half a tank left. Last time they kept it 6 days and still does the same thing. Any suggestions?

I just bought my 2003 with 60k on it show room condition after driving it for a couple of days I noticed the fuel gauge drop to e and low fuel light came on. I took it back to the dealer and got him to order a new fuel sending unit and replace mine for free. The sending unit is on back order till feb 2. I guess alot of sending units are being replaced (should be a recall) if that many Sequoias are having problems.

Same problem with my 2002 Sequoia. Just started a month or 2 ago. Sounds like the fuel level sending unit is indeed the problem. It's just a hassle to drop the tank, but I'll get around to it.
