what do you guys think, the nissan 300zx or nissan 350z?
i would have to go with the 300zx. yes, the 350z is faster than the N/A, but imo i think that the 300zx looks the best of all z cars. the 350z jus looks too big. but i still like the 350z, jus not as much as the 300zx.

I haven't driven a 350Z, but IMHO the 1995 300ZX Twin Turbo is one of the best street car/daily drivers ever made. The 300ZXTT I drove was a 96, but the 95's are more modifiable and there's more aftermarket support for them because of the OBD I rather than the OBD II engine management. The 300ZX TT is still a big car. Handling and braking stock are better on the 350Z, but for a street car the 300ZX TT is a very good choice.
Also, the interior of the 350Z seems to be a bit more cramped for me (I have sat in one) than the 300ZX TT, and at 6'1", that is a bit of a concern for me.

I agree that the 300ZX looks 10x better than the 350z...it has weird headlights and tailights...I like all the parts of the 300zx...no complaints whatsoever about any part of it...just a sexy car!

350z you can cruise at 120MPH + for a long time and an even wink. Handling is like riding on rails. Looks like cross between a spaceship and an muscle car.... it sounds like a lion roaring when opening up the throttle..... But, I still have Respect for the 300ZX.

Until the turbo version of the 350 comes out, the 300 is still the best that Nissan has ever brung to the states.

The 300ZX gets my vote, for the most likely car to get you killed, handling and braking were always very 80's on those things, but they still were sexy and sort of quick.
My ACTUAL vote goes to the 350Z, best FR car of the 00's, thus far.

Well, I must vote for the 300ZX. I have a 95 TT nad it is by far a better car. The engine is able to handle more abuse(due to the lack of computerization compared to the 350z). And potential for power is huge.
They also look better IMO. Handle better, brake better. Not to mention get more looks. Here in Vancouver Canada it is not rare to see a 350Z on the street or in a garage. The ladys like it more too:D<almost the most important thing

I've never driven in a 300ZX, but have sat in a couple years back, so I cannot give any kind of qualified comparison, but my impressions of driving my 350Z every day do tempt me to say something on this subject :)
I have heard that the 350Z is quicker than 300ZX TT straightline as well as on the track, when neither is modified. However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that a factory TT car has significantly more potential than most N/A cars out there.
As for space in 350Z, it is really damn roomy - I am 5'11 and I have too much space up top, which is nice for helmets and things. I have also heard from various owners that "big n' tall" people fit in the 350Z with no problems whatsoever. I do recall that the 300ZX was really cramped up though, but I have not sat in one in years so I can't say much more than that.
I know that I love my 350Z, and would not even consider trading it for 300ZX, even though my plans are to make it kick ass on the track. I am currently considering doing an RB26DETT swap with 4WD ATESSA-ETS, which would make it kick any 300ZX's butt :naughty:

Dont get me wrong, I lov ethe 350Z, i love all Z's. But i have had the chance to drive a 350Z and my 300ZX on the track and my 300ZX was faster. Not by much but it was. This could be due to the fact that i know my car very well, or maby the 350 is really the slower car. But as for which would be better on the track or on the street, i think comes down to who is the better driver.
just mu opinion:D

I agree that an outcome of a race between these two cars will strongly depend on the drivers, but I do not recall of any 300ZX TT stock (including crappy stock tires) doing a mid-13 second run.
On my first ever attempt at drag racing I got a 13.69 1/4, and that was with Nissan's faulty tranny that grinded like no one's business, so I actually had to wait a split second before switching through the gears.

Nope, the factory tires on the 300ZX are garbage. But if you equip the car with the same compound you were using then i dont see that 13's would be to unatainable. Mid to low 13's are ataniable on stock tires. So, to be fair give us the newer compounds:D

Better compound than the crap they used on the 300ZX. Hell 14 years of development, the tires have got alot better. RE040's are better than anything then. Ill take those on the 300ZX and pull a 13.

meh.......As a track monster the 350Z is more or less perfect, however the RB26/ATESSA would make it quite a strip monster :naughty: I'd upgrade the brakes and suspension of the Z and do as much enigne mods as you can in the cramped engine bay :D
Yeah, all my impressions come from driving a 350Z Track, so I"m not sure if the other 350's would be as amazing as this one, but I'd imagine the gap'd be narrow.
Hopefully I can stall kids for a few years and get me a 350Z one day

The 350Z track comes with stiffer suspension, i beleave it is slightly lower, nicer wheels, and a few other odds and ends.
Its a beautiful track car, but i have had a chance to drive both and found that the 300ZX was much more suited for the corners. Teh 350 seemed a little top heavy. Im sure its cause im usto a 300 and not a 350. But they are both wonderful cars and dont bash either untill you have driven both.
Nissan has developed some of the best cars in the world, and they keep that reputation alove with the 350Z

well thats casue your driving a modded Z32 vs. a stock Z33. plus i don't see how the old Z is better handling stock then the new Z. plus you complain that the new Z feels heavier when in reality its like 300lbs less. that is a considerable margin. plus the track model also is faster becusae it has 18 inch rays wheels that only weights 18 lbs vs. the 25 lbs 17 inch wheels on the base model. as we all know that rotating mass on wheels does slow the car down quit a bit. plus on a track the 350Z track model has been proven to be faster then a E46 M3. i highly doubt the Z32 stock can even hold a candle against the M3. esp with a very primative HICAS steering system. however if i was to choose, i'd take the Z32. just cuasie its turbo, however the engine bay is sooo cramped that its a absolute nightmare to work on it. but still, i'm a sucker for turbos. so the Z32 wins by a hair.

My 300zx is VERY lightly modded. JWT dual pop charger, HKS Racing BOV Type II, HKS EVC V, and a few other little bits.
It is modded but not very much.
Comparing a 350Z and an M3 is somewhat pointless. Your comparing a 2 seater, sparse interior car to a full leather, powere everything, navi, every amenity you could ask for, and then the power to back it up.
How much did it beat the M3 by? Im assuming not alot.
Compare it to another sparse 2 seater car such as an S2000, Vett, SLK32, or another sports oriented 2 seater. And like i said the car feels heaver, didnt say it was, just feels like it.
Im assuming that an M3 and Skyline R33 would be fairly close on a track. And it is proven a 300ZX is faster than a R33 driven by the same driver. But thats kinda off topic.
I vote for both:D

300ZX TT has anywhere from a 0-60 of 5.2 to 5.5...
The 350z at best I have seen is 5.4...so it's possible that the TT has the advantage in a straightline...
I wish I had the VQ in my car...cuz I like NA...very reliable...
Btw...the comment about cruising at 120mph...I can cruise in my car at 140 mph w/o fail and no problem...

i don't know what your talkin about. i have this bestmotoring video from back in 90 when the R32 GT-R first came out, it was a standard GT-R the v-spec wasn't even out yet neither was the V-spec II. anyways, it was racing in Sugo Circuit against a Z32 300ZX TT, a RX-7 FC3S, a supra Mark III turbo, and a mitsubishi Galant VR-4. and guess how bad the R32 smoked everyone by? the R32 beat the Z by almost 6 seconds. by the time the R32 already crossed the finished line, the Z was approaching hte final turn that leads to the final straight. the Z burned everyone else by like 2 seconds. but the R32 DESTROYED, i repeat DESTROYED the Z. and this was a standard GT-R when the HICAS was still mechanical, and the ATESSA ETS wasn't that advanced yet. the R32 V-spec II is when they switched everything over to being computer controlled. and it is considerabley faster then the standard GT-R. plus the R33 is much faster then the R32. so it would make no sense for a R33 to be slower then a Z32. it is just not possible. i would like to see this video. i'll link you to mine.

check in one of those shootouts or comparison ones, and you will how a Z stands no chance against the skyline

Although i am slightly biased because i own a 300zxTT i still have to say i'd prefer it over the 350z. I've seen some coments saying the 350z is faster in all scenarios including the quarter mile. this is wrong. i saw an episode of Top Gear where they ran the two beside each other in a 1/5 mile course. The 300zx won and was still pulling away at the end of the run. if the course was longer the 300zx would have had an even bigger gap. Also dont forget that the 300zx has two suspention settings, Touring, and Sport. I can testify that the 300zx is glued to the road, i'd be confident in it being able to take turns faster than anyone would want to take them.:grinyes: Although the tires are an old technology and they are crap compared to the new ones you can buy to day, they are a hell of a lot wider than the 350z's, providing alot more traction.
My dad has driven the 350z, owned a 300zx and owns a g35 coupe and he says he would still choose the 300zx hands down. The only thing stoping him from having one now is my mom demanding his car have 4 seats.
