Hi I have a problem with the heat in my van it's a 94 ford aerostar sport....... i used to get heat for about a min then it's cold air blowing and already replaced the heater core the rad and the thermostat now looking for the most common thing that can go wrong since had to 3 different mechanics and they don't get it either now that we saw the mechanics the 2 min of heat we used to get is no more.. and now the heater core doesn't get hot is it supposed to be too hot to touch??thought someone here might know?? and yes the hoses get hot but we think this makes no sense why there is NO HEAT!
Please help !!
we attempted the blendoor fix but unfortunately our van doesn't seem to be the same as the one in the pics and none of the parts are there let alone in the right spot...

I have the same problem on a 93. Where did you find the pics?

On my vehicle the top hose (inlet) is medium hot and the bottom hose (outlet) is barely warm which means that the coolant has passed through the heater core and lost it's heat - a good sign.
The fan is blowing but somehow it's not blowing through the heater core.
How did you determine that your blendor was working correctly?
Thanks

My mechanic suggests that perhaps a pen slid down through the front window defrost vent and has prevented the blendor door from closing and therefore the warm air is not being directed. The dash needs to be removed at a cost of around $1,000.00. ouch!

I just replyed to someone else with the same problem. I know its august but my 89 had little heat. All checked out ok found that door stuck open. The radiator guy reached up from under dash and held door closed. Then drove screw from top of dash down thru dash into door. This kept it closed. Only couldnt get fresh air but cheaper than removing dash.

Okay, so this heater thing seems to be a common problem. I have an 89 Aerostar with the same problem. I have replaced the heater core, upper and lower hoses, fuses, and thermostat. I have flushed the system (front and rear), and checked for leaks (none found). My problem is there is heat at the phelonic chamber and no where else. My passenger (front) rides in comfort, and everyone else is freezing. It is starting to get cold here in Utah, and some help would be appreciated.
BTW, I have checked the flow control door inside the phelonic chamber without having to remove the dash (hard to do, and you work blind), and the door operates manually just fine, and I can find nothing loose inside (such as a pen from upper dash). Is there a vacuum control or electronic control for the control door??

I was trying to fix the heating problem last night on my 90 aerostar eddie bauer model. I found that there is a valve on one of the heater hoses that turns the flow of water to the heater core off. It is hooked to some type of vacuum hose. All I did was flip the vavle the other direction and instant heat !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a similar problem the bottom hose going into heater core of the van is hot to touch as is the heater core inside the van but very little heat but some.

I recently found out that many of the Ford Aerostars have the fan motor wired backwards! Yes, it can be done and the fan will run! It sounds completely normal. It simply will not put any heat out into the van. I own 2 older Aerostars and they both were lousy heaters! A new fan motor in the '90 help a bunch but still they're not very warm.
