I know this has probably been asked before but I am kind of pressed for time to look it up. I have a 98 gst but was planing on buying a 95 gsx with a blown motor, is it a straight swap with the gst to gsx motor wise? Is it just remove the motor and replace it or is there going to be other problems? Thanks in advance

no, keep the gsx tranny, it's for the gsx. and it should just bolt right up. make sure to fully take advantage of having the engine pulled. you can do a bunch of little things like clean the engine bay, remove balance shafts, and some other little things that you might not think about untill it's too late.

I know keep the GSX tranny but he is pulling the motor out of the GST. So he has to swap the GSX tranny over to new motor. While you have the tranny off put new clutch in maby a lightened flywheel.

Hey thanks for all the idea's. If I do get it, I will probably clean the engine bay and stuff while I can. Are the tranny's the same for a gst and gsx? I thought they would be different b/c one is an AWD and the other is not. Don't know for sure though.

You guys were both saying (correctly) the same thing. Juts different ways of looking at it :) The trannies are very different, but they bolt to the block in the exact same way. COmpletely interchangeable. It will be a straight up swap.
The only issue I foresee is th cam angle sensors. The 97 has it on the pass side of the head, while the 95 has it behind the cam gear. You can do the wiring to keep it simple, or swap heads. If you arent afraid of some wiring (the pages on RREs site about the CAS wiring for 1g in a 2g swap may be helpful for the color coding of the wires) that is obviously the easier route.

you have to keep the GSX tranny because it's AWD. Guess what homies. I'm selling my Civic and going DSM.
