I started my car this morning and I went to shut it off and now I cannto get the key out of the ignition. Is there anyone that has had the same problem and know what it is?

Thanks

I had the same problem. Good news. The answer is not your ignition switch. It is your floor mounted transmission shift lever. If your S70 is like mine, when you place the lever in park, the "button" on the shift lever must fully retract when in "P." If the button remains slightly stuck in as mine does, the key will not remove! Do not force the key! What you have to do is, using your thumb and forefinger, pull out of the button bar behind the transmission selector. You will need to ease it out of the retracted positon until it pops out all the way.

Let me know if this helps....good luck!

Thanks mm9351 - I have a 2001 S40 and I also got the key stuck in the ignition. I spent the better part of an hour trying to get it out with no lock and was on the verge of driving to the locksmith. I read your post and went out to my car and proceeded to play with the button on my shift lever. Sure enough, the button was depressed while my vehicle was in park. When I pulled the button open, my key popped right out. Thanks!!!
