I have a 93 Jeep YJ with a Chevy 350 330HP crate engine and the Holley Commander 950 700 CFM TBI system. The Jeep will run just fine until it warms up then when I press the accelerator it spits and sputters like mad. Fuel pump is good, fuel filter is new, the injectors are spewing just as they should and flow increases when the throttle is applied. Today when it started sputtering, I pulled over and removed the air filter and revved the egine while looking into the intake. The fuel was igniting just below the butterflies and was causing the sputtering.
What is causing this and why doe sit only do it when the engine is at operating temperature? Any help is appreciated and please be as specific as possible with your explanation and advice.

Nothing more then a shot in the dark here. But I have seen it with my own eyes so... Check the dist. shaft for play. The bearings in one of mine where worn out. For some reason as it got warm\hot the play in the shaft would grow. That made it run ok cold but misfire when hot.
Like I said just a shot in the dark.

Or it may be the thingy over or the Do- hickey thingy over there. I agree with the other posts.

You saw flame right under the throttle plate ? Sounds like the timing might be off. Can you turn the distributor and see if it smoothes out ?
