A Few Questions

I'm thinking of purchasing a diablo VT with in the next year or so and had a few questions for some of you that already own one.
I mainly want one for cruising on the week-ends and racing(1/4 mile).

1) What kind of 1/4 times do basically stock VT's run?
2) What size are the stock rims?
3) Are there any common problems VT's are known to have?
4) Any reliabilty problems(is it going to nickel & dime me to death)?
5) How is the car for longer trips(7-8hours)?
6) Can i get a good VT for around 90-100K?

Sorry for all the questions but i would like to get the opinions of people who have owned them. Please feel free to tell me anything you think i would like to know(which is almost everything) :smile:

Lets see, early Vt's can run low 12's, late Vts high 11's.

Early cars have 17's, late 18's.

If you buy the car to drag race only you will encounter clutch problems and tranny problems. Cars are too heavy, and too much rubber on the road to drag race. They are very strong cars, and ive been running mine, with nitrous for over 5 years, only maintenence has been oil + filter changes. Runs perfect, still on original clutch. I dont drag race, but i let all hell break loose after 5mph.

They are very good for long trips. I find them very comfortable.

90-100k. No. You can find a 91-92 for that though, which i would rather have over an early Vt anyway.

I dont know how you guys get away with just oil changes.... For me, we had to replace the clutch at 8k.. and we dont drive it that hard at all. Also, apparently, low time between clutch replacements is common, and it will set you back 10k. This is NOT an everyday driver, and if you want it to be, expect to spend the price of the car in 5 years or so. It costs a lot to maintain diablos.. So if you dont have a lot of money (and from your pricing question, it looks like you're on a budget) I would not recommend this vehicle... It WILL cost you over time.. Get a porsche Turbo or something like that, that can be driven every day.. This car is a good weekend car, and we put about 1-2k miles per year on ours.
