I can tell you that the Colorado and the Canyon are powered by a 5 cylinder 3500 or the 4 cylinder 2800 engines.
Personnaly I like the styling and would definatly consider purchasing one

the Colorado actually looks decent. it's about time they update the look. but i'd still get a Frontier over it.

We bought one in March.......LOVE IT!
For a small truck it really is quite large
inside. Lot's of leg room both front seat and
back!!

I will be getting mine in about 3 days, I cant wait, I have heard just about nothing but good stuff about these trucks.

We have had ours since early March...
It had 17 miles on it when we bought
it and now has over 10,000.
(lots of long road trips and vacations)
the truck handles it like a champ. Plus
is good in the mountains!

i bought the sport version with lowered suspension and no shitty chrome parts..it's all black..nothing but a head turner..I love it to death..as heathersg said..TONS of inside room. i have the 220 hp 5 cylinder, it's rather peppy for a mid sized truck..larger than an s-10 but not a gas hog like the silverado. I had it four days and replaced the muffler w/ a flowmaster..its got a little bark, but it does wrap up a little if you get into it too hard,,and drifts more towards the import-sound. So if you keep your foot out of the motor so to speak, then it sounds wonderful. There is also a cold air intake offered by k&n or edelbrock,,not sure..but i am in the market to get that as well..about 280.00 Also..20's will look great, and not look overly big on this truck like the s-10's..i haven't gotten mine yet, but that will be soon.

Our's is black as well.
It's a really nice looking truck. we saw
the lowered suspension one as well, but
went with the regular one because of
the flooding our area does sometimes.
LOL...didn't want to have to paddle!

I am also thinking about getting a new Colorado. I checked out the extended cab and the crew cab and really like the latter. I could not believe the room in the back seat! I was disappointed though that I can't get the 5 sp with the 220 hp motor in the Z71 4WD pkg. The auto is standard. It looks like I can (technically) get that combo in the Z85 4WD. Unfortunately, it looks like most dealers are ordering them with the auto - I haven't found one in my area on the Chevy website locator. Also, I am bummed that I can't get the leather interior and seat six. Anybody know if the bed extender is on a track to roll up to the front of the box when not in use? I didn't think to check when I was at the dealer the other day.

This is a great and timely discussion, Thanks!

Bought my Colorado in June. I have just over 5,000 miles on it already and I'm extremely pleased. It is by the far the best truck I've ever owned. I have the 5 cylinder with a manual transmission. Good gas milage and great hauling ability. Recommend the truck for everyone.

That is good to hear! As I said, I am hopeful I can find one with the 5 cyl and the 5 spd - haven't found one around here yet. What model did you get? Was wondering if it was the Sport model. I want the crew cab in either Z71 or Z85 trim. It is great that they have so many different possible combinations (reg, x-cab, crew with the two engines and two transmissions and 2wd or 4wd) but we seem to be at the mercy of the dealer who orders them.

BTW, I was online and asked for a GM rep to contact me over a week ago and still haven't heard from anyone.

We rented one a couple of weeks ago for a road trip (was going to get a Grand Prix, but it had a flat tire), and it was really good for a truck. I'm a sports car kinda guy, but I liked it a lot. It was easy to drive, and looked nice inside and out. If I was going to buy a smaller truck, I would buy this.

I love the Colorado as well, and will be getting one as soon as I can sell my Typhoon. My dad works for GM, so I'll be getting a pretty healthy discount. Getting a crew cab sport, black with leather. So if you know anyone that wants a rare Garnet Red '93 Typhoon with only 69k miles, I'm selling mine. I need something more practical. I love the Typhoon, but the gas mileage isn't there, and with it being such a rare truck, I hate putting miles on it.

My problem with the Colorado was the pricing. I looked at a Z-71 2wd (i thought Z-71 was 4x4 only) with the 5 banger and power windows, locks and cruise control. For a few more grannd like 2500 more you can get a silverado with the same equiptment. Seems like a nice truck but it doesn't seem to have competetive pricing.

i also have a 04 colorado, with the 5 cylinder, in black, ext. cab, Z-85 with no chrome, and honestly, its awesome, before buying this truck, i was big time into the imports, but i have a whole new perspective now, these trucks have more than enough room inside, they drive and handle really well, lots of power for a mid-size and gas is great, i think i get better mileage out of it than i do my 92 civic. Anyway i would recommend these trucks to anybody, its amazing how many people stop by just to ask how i like it. next is some 20's and the boomin system from my civic.

I just bought a (red) Colorado today. I got the regular cab, regular bed 4X4. It has the Z71 option, the five cylinder engine and auto. The ride is a little stiff, but otherwise the truck is perfect for what I need a truck for.

Bought my 04 Z71 4X4 Colarado in March. Didn't get it until the end of May. I wanted a green one with the 5 cyl. & 5 speed stick. It sat in the shipping depot in Shreveport for 29 days!!! Waiting for a train load of trucks to come to Canada.

Since then, the truck has been EXCELLENT!!! It gets mileage in the high 20's, and will squawk the tires in second gear.

Only mechanical problem that I've had, just developed, is the belt tensioner pulley bearing has started to squeak. I've got 17,000+Km's on it now.

Bought one last summer for 1 thousand miles it was great. Then it began to shimmy at 50mph. At least 8 service trips the next 4000 miles and no solution in sight. GM customer assistance people are the worst mi8serable people in the world. Truck is flawed and tehy can't fix it and wont make good without a law suit. Dealer says he agrees with me 100% and can't do anything better than a trade in on new vechile. Run don't walk away form Chevy and expecially Colorado...

I was considering a base model with the 4 cylinder and 5-speed manual. They have lots of interior room for a small truck but I don't really like the engine. Not great gas mileage for a 4 cylinder. Too bad they don't offer the 2.2 ecotech. BTW my fullsize Dodge V-6 5-speed manual gets an average of 19 mpg. The sticker on the Colorado was 24mpg highway. Not enough difference for me considering my old 1996 2.2 S-10 got 30.

how is it compared to the s10? i have a s10 blazer 91 4.3 tbi. its by far my favorite of all ive ever owned. had it since 94, and has over 250,000 miles on it and still runs like or better than new. i hope the colorado is as good and long lasting as the s10.

Definitely more interior room than the S-10. Way more power with the 4 cyl. compared to the old 2.2 OHV. Haven't heard of any problems yet with the 4 cyl. engine but have beed reading on this forum problems with 5 cyl. engine.

Just bought my Colorado Z71 Crew Cab 4 mths ago-absolutely LOVE the truck itself-lots of room-great on trips-having a few problems w/ it though-had it in the shop for the a/c three times-it's in the shop again right now-won't start-waiting to hear what the problem is-I would buy it again though!! Hopefully it's just a fluky thing & I won't have any more trouble-just thought I'd let you know my experiences!

Whoa, must be a diehard GM man, three trips for the AC and now it won't run at all? I'd be swinging a sledgehammer at it. Hopefully your dealer will stand behind it, not give you the runaround.

I have a '04 4x4 Z71 crew cab...I like it, it's a good truck and thankfully, it's good on gas. My complaints are (these are common complaints for the truck)...the interior could be better (console is cheesy, seats could be better), and the General tires SUCK (they actually are good in the snow, but suck in the rain are noisey and from the looks of it, treadware isn't so good).

BUT, if you read any forum for any car, there's some complaints. But I am overall happy with the truck. If you check out www.coloradofans.com you'll see that most owners are satisfied with the truck as well.
