i've heard of the fairlady 300zx tt having 600 odd hp, but how much hp can be made from that engine with stock enternals?
i almost got a 300zx, but my love is the 3000gtvr4 but the 300zx would be next on my list.

up to or past 500hp.

Yeah, I have heard of up to 550 or so with stock internals, but with turbos swap.

vg30dett can withstand up to 500hp untill it needs renforcment. it can go higher..but you would be in danger of seriously damaging your engine. 500hp safe...and i know you want to be safe..

Agreed.
But when you reinforce the bottom end and go with aftermarket pistons, rods, and so on you could get in reach of the 700+hp mark. A lot of tuning needs to be done to accomplish this. Getting to 500hp is not a matter of a simple turbo swap either. Other parts of the engine are in need of upgrading as well once you start going in that direction.

its cool about hearing these numbers, but what i want to know is how much a stock N/A and TT will produce.

A stock N/A is rated 222 and a stock TT is rated at 300. This are Nissan's ratings for hp at the flywheel.

i would agree with wingosofwar about the 500hp being safe abut i have seen as much as 650whp on a stock internals 300zx. he had ported the head and used headstuds to keep them on with new turbos and fuel system upgrades he kept it on the rich side to keep detonation at bay, i think he was running about 11.5:1

well, if you put 10,000 dollar turbo's on it, a nice expensive port and polish, new exaust, chip, bigger injectors, lighten the whole car up a couple houndred pounds, and just went all out on about everything you can think possible (which hopfully i will do one day) for about 50 grand worth of enhancements you could have basically a blown out dragster with around 800 hp and that is more than enough!!!

There is no way you can get more than 340HP on stock twin turbos, they are fairly small and even if you boost them up to get that much power they wont last long because of the heat it produces. and like rizzspeed said, if you reinforce internal components in your engine and a good single ball bearing turbo with good ceramic coating to keep it cool can certainly develop over 500-650HP.
You have to do alot more though, fuel, tunning, injection, cooling and so forth

actually its possible to get above that number on stock turbos...and yes they will go out sooner..but only if you run high boost and beat the shit out of the engine every time you drive it. T25 is still preatty reliable at those numbers, but usually people upgrade the turbos before they even begin to brake down. Especially if your cranking up the boost. VG30DETT is a remarkable engine..decent powerhouse with good tuning capabilities. Its already estimated at giving 250-270 rear wheel horsepower, simple modifications can bring its performance numbers incredibly high due to its structure and construction. A trait nissan used in most of their sports car family, such as skylines RB26DETT and the silvias SR20DET.
But thats not what was asked in this thread..the engine alone can withstand 500hp safe...thats all that needs to be said.

is that a wheel number or a flywheel number?

How much can you get on stock NA?

wow..this is an old thread..why bring it back?
that 900hp Z has upgraded internals..when you upgrade the internals on any engine...you open a number of possibilites for how your engine will perform. Looks like they did the works on that VG30DETT, im sure even with a 900hp twin turbo powerhouse its probably not even doing max boost. id like to see that beast cram 8 earths atmosphears into that engine.
As far as a VG30DE you can only do so much to it to squeeze power to it until theres nothing more you can do. iv seen a 370Brake horsepower on a Z32 N/A motor before..thats as high as iv actually seen in person. Im sure someone in the world has built the VG30DE to run higher BHP numbers..but so far that it.
