The policing for GWB's state visit to the UK is going to cost 4 million and they want parts of london shut down for the entire visit.

IS HE F***ING CRAZY who in their right minds would do ecomonic damage for a lousey US state visit. The Mayor of London said no so nothing of the sort is going to happen.

did anyone else know this one : London's attractiveness to a terrorist attack has been moved to medium status. The rest of the UK is still at Low along with the US

4 million? Got a link for how they came to that conclusion? Shutting down half of london is crazy. They don't shut down DC or New York when leaders from other countries come here.

I doubt very much whether the security spooks from other countries would demand it.Not every world leader is as big a target for terrorism as GWB.

a little photo gallery:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/photo_gallery/3283163.stm

ps 20,000 people from the 'stop the war coalition' are going to be protesting

footnote last state visit was China police used vehicles and officers to block protesters banners and posters so they wouldn't see them. Same thing is supposed to be organised for GWB's visit.

footnote #2 alot of anti-americanism is going around.

footnote #3 palace security was breached easily :

As opposed to the headline above. Another view from someone in the UK

(from the Guardian as posted on Instapundit...)
(links aren't working right now from his site...)

-----------------------------------------
Dear Mr President, Today you arrive in my country for the first state visit by an American president for many decades, and I bid you welcome. You will find yourself assailed on every hand by some pretty pretentious characters collectively known as the British left. They traditionally believe they have a monopoly on morality and that your recent actions preclude you from the club. You opposed and destroyed the world's most blood-encrusted dictator. This is quite unforgivable. I beg you to take no notice. The British left intermittently erupts like a pustule upon the buttock of a rather good country. Seventy years ago it opposed mobilisation against Adolf Hitler and worshipped the other genocide, Josef Stalin. It has marched for Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Khrushchev, Brezhnev and Andropov. It has slobbered over Ceausescu and Mugabe. It has demonstrated against everything and everyone American for a century. Broadly speaking, it hates your country first, mine second. Eleven years ago something dreadful happened. Maggie was ousted, Ronald retired, the Berlin wall fell and Gorby abolished communism. All the left's idols fell and its demons retired. For a decade there was nothing really to hate. But thank the Lord for his limitless mercy. Now they can applaud Saddam, Bin Laden, Kim Jong-Il... and hate a God-fearing Texan. So hallelujah and have a good time.

What is he going to do in England? Doesn't he realize that he has to take care of things more important than having a tea party with with the british Prime Minister? George! You've got to do you're homework before you can go out and play! (Maybe his parents should exercise better control over their son?)

its an embarassment seriously. The same thing happened when china visited. Do they honestly think they'll make a difference

+ it gives an excuse to those FUCKTARDS called anti-capitalists to create an international incident.

PS Bush needs to wake up and smell the coffee he's not making friends quick.

On another note Left wing party members in America have critised GWB for destroying the international rapor that so many presidents before GWB built up before him.

GWB also said something about bringing Democracy and Peace to the world. Honestly he's starting to sound like a communist because his actions are more or less the opposite but whilst the outcome might actually back the above statement the present problem does not.

GWB's presidency will be a very black one... :shakeshead: It's amazing how one man can not only divide a nation, but turn the whole world against us. :uhoh:

Otherwise isn't the U.S election next year? I just hope he doesn't get re-elected. How can somebody pissed off so much people in such a short time?

At least we know now that when Charles takes the throne, the words to the English national anthem will not need to be changed.

Did anyone else see the Daily Mirror story on palace security?Apparently,a journalist was able to pose as a royal footman for TWO MONTHS,and could have continued the decption for longer had he not decided to break the story.

I disagree with everything you said. GWB is a MAJOR target for terrorist activity. Brits should be more alert lately because of the British sites attacked in Turkey.

what are you talking about?

Not only did the terrorist activity happen after what i posted. Bush has left the UK and I never said anything about Terrorism or anything along those lines for you to give a reply of that sort of nature.

PS we know about terrorism we've had to put up with the fucking IRA for a long time. So don't bother, don't even start, don't even try to lecture the British about such events because its been going on for a long time. They've done more damage to England than any other terrorist group could hope to achieve.

1. free speech
2. they have made a difference; you're talking about them, im talking about them, the media's beamed the images all over the world and in doing so achieved their goal, which was to hinder the "PR campaign"

im not really sure if youre talking about the demonstrators here? if so the demonstrators have nothing to do with anti-capitalism, theyre just trying to remind people what the word "democracy" means. If it had been a weekend, you would have had over a million demonstrators, easy

i don't care if they have freedom of speech. They've been exercising that right for ages. HOW MANY PROTESTS DO THEY NEED TO DO BEFORE THEY REALISE NO ONE IN GOVERNMENT IS FUCKING LISTENING?

PS do you know anything about the protests that were happening before the war and during it?

No because then you'd know that they had burnt stuff broken window thrown missiles at police and broke into city halls.

PS during the anti-capitalist protests which seemed like riots. They defaced Sir Winston Churchill's statue and they also smashed up shop windows and set some alight.

Yes freedom of speech is nice but protests aren't going to do much good. Now strikes are a different way and much more effective but they did that at universities which seems pointless because you're wasting your time and your money.

I never said they couldn't do it i said they shouldn't because its a major embarassment sure i don't think tony blair should do this this and this. But the only people who are protesting are the anti-capitalists. and they can get fucked cuz i don't give a flying fuck about them. Also I am expressing my freedom of speech by saying that they are an embarrasment and you saying this this and this about me saying this this and this because of freedom of speech is a bit of a contradiction.

PS doing a protest in the middle of a time when there are terrorist threats is not a good idea they are a prime target. Do Terrorists care what their opinion is? No.

Democracy doesn't involve a small percentage of the population who say they are representing the whole country when the obviously are NOT!!!!!!!!! going out and making an ass of themselves and saying we represent the nation. NO you represent an opinion of a fraction of the nation as a whole and no i don't agree with you. They fucked it up now they can fix it. No good running away from it.

Get it?

Oh i'm sorry did i miss the expiry date? :disappoin

HOW MANY PROTESTS DO THEY NEED TO DO BEFORE THEY REALISE NO ONE IN GOVERNMENT IS FUCKING LISTENING?

If they dont listen it'll be their own downfall, sooner or later. The only thing that'll save TB is the weakness and divides in the Conservative party.

PS do you know anything about the protests that were happening before the war and during it?

Don't be a condascending little fuck assuming you know all there is to know and more than everyone else. Do you know that several peaceful demonstrations involved police beating young demonstrators? We're talking schoolkids here. My gf - who isnt anti capitalist btw, i dont know why you class all demonstrators as anti-capitalists :screwy: - saw it in front of her face. Cops laying into 12/13yr olds. Somehow this particular event didnt get into the news, although several journalists i know were well and truly aware of it. It's happened in the US, it's happened in the UK; some has been caught on film - unprovoked police laying into peaceful crowds with their batons.

PS during the anti-capitalist protests which seemed like riots. They defaced Sir Winston Churchill's statue and they also smashed up shop windows and set some alight.

There you go again. Anti war demonstrations have nothing to do with anti-capitalisms. Stop mixing the two together.
And when did i say you werent allowed an opinion? :screwy: Im simply disagreeing with it. That's my freedom of speech. Youre getting yourself very confused.

Actually my friend, look at the polls, and see how TB's approval ratings have changed. The war saw his approval rating fall to its lowest level in years. These people dont represent the entire country, any fool knows that, but they represent a very sizeable chunk. And why are they making asses of themselves? They're sticking up for something they believe in.

And who fucked what up? what do "they" have to fix? Is there any point to your rambling?

Get it?
You should be asking yourself that very question.

If your post is going to repeat what you just said, i'd think twice about it
Ditto if you have any sentences like this one up your sleeve Also I am expressing my freedom of speech by saying that they are an embarrasment and you saying this this and this about me saying this this and this because of freedom of speech is a bit of a contradiction.
I mean Jesus Christ come on!!! :banghead:
