Went to my local dodge dealer this weekend and asked why they didnt have one yet. I guess they have to sell so many vipers before they can have one on their lot. they also have to have a mechanic certified to work on the viper engine. Thats what he says anyway.

the only qualification that i know of for a dealer to sell the Ram SRT-10 is the certified viper mechanic and everything else that goes along with it (i.e. everything needed to work on the viper) other then that they just need to put in there order....now since they aren't goin to be makin that many Ram SRT's they may not get one do to availability...who knows?

Dodge ram SRT-10
8.3 L V-10. 500hp, 525 ft pounds torque, 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 13.86 @ 101.49 mph all for just - $46000

I would never go near a ford lightning, i wouldn't want to be in a ford goin fast. The truck would just fall apart around me.

Ram Srt-10:
60-0 mph 122 ft

Lighting:
0-60 5.2 with 380hp 450 ft pounds torque, 1/4 mile 13.38@102.78 mph, 60-0 122 ft all for $32000. :iceslolan
I think the Lighting can still hold it's own with having 120 less hp. It would be a race to see.

Im P!st!!! I had a chance to Drive the new Ram & I didnt... I've had a 00 RT Dokota, 02 RT Durango, and I now have a 03 SLT Quad Cab Ram.

So as a valued customer they sent me an invatation to Test out the new ram on a track!!!
Not only Test it, but get paid $100.00 to do it!!
All they wanted was for me to do was tell them how I felt about the truck, was there anything I liked to disliked about it.

I mixed the the D@m Dates & Missed it!!!
That was 6-8 months ago & Im still P!ST about it!!

come on now we're all grown here. no need for stereotypes. My cars act just fine. it all matters on how your going to treat the car/truck. btw. my friend races the crap out of his lightning. best et btw is like 12.6. not bad. hasn't fallen apart or anything. :nono:

you see that in any forum about any car (any product for that matter) nuthing is perfect and never will be. they all have their perks and downfalls but that is what makes competition so great (besides the better products) is where one may be the best here, its the worst there

LETS THROW A SUPERCHARGER ON THE SRT-10 AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. PUT A SUPERCHARGER ON THE NEON SRT-4, THAT WOULD OUT RUN A LIGHTING!

well stats wise...the new truck trend magazine the srt 10 beats the lightning at every test thrown at it with the exception of braking....i work as a tck at the local dodge dealer and we've already sold one, and apperentlyteh dealer has sold several vipers as well....also on the same topic does anyone else but me think that a four door version of the existing
srt-10 is the stupid-asstes idea.

I do. I also work for dodge, as a viper tech. we have so many vipers coming in that we are the only shop in Texas that has two viper techs. I think that the idea of a 4-door viper truck is the worst idea in the world. I myself have gotten one of the trucks up to 115 on the highway near the shop. (Its fun when you can outrun police cars like nothing)... Hennessey is offering the same twin turbo upgrades for the truck that are for the car two. I am eagerly awaiting one of these finally comes in, Ill haft to let her stretch out her legs and see what she could do but they are promising the same 1001Hp.

Not sure if I read this right but didn't the new Dodge Ram with th eviper endgine set a new factory production truck quarter mile record of 150 mph plus....was in the new Dodge monthly publication...not sure if the ford can approach that...

You read it wrong. It doesn't do 150 mph plus in the 1/4 mile. That's ridiculous.

It's supposed to do 150mph but not in the 1/4 mile. It does 13's which is about 105mph in the 1/4.

Chelsea, Mich., Feb 02, 2004 - The Dodge Ram SRT-10 unleashed its Viper power today, taking its place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "World's Fastest Production Pickup Truck."

Only recently off the Saltillo, Mexico, assembly line and not modified in any way for additional power or enhanced aerodynamics, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 posted a two-lap, both-directions average speed of 154.587 mph over a "flying kilometer" on the 4.71-mile oval at the DaimlerChrysler Proving Grounds here in Chelsea. The record run by the Dodge Ram SRT-10 was certified by Guinness World Records and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). The previous record was 147.54 mph, set last July by the Ford SVT F-150 Lightning, before the Dodge Ram SRT-10 went into production.
