i dunno never read about the skyline but the top sercert surpa is one of the rare cars designed for top speed not drag. (might be wrong) its able to do over 200 mph so i would say the skyline in a quick drag but the supra would catch up around 110 and then beat the crap out of the skyline! But i love surpas the beutiful mechanies. do u have any write ups on the skyline like to read em ty

it's too hard to tell just from pics of the car and engine, got any specs on either car? and why the hell is there a 4 cylinder in the supra? at first i thought you were mistaken, but i only see 4 spark plug wires.

Thats the new Top Secret Supra, its built for top speed runs with its 3SGE (MR2 poewr!) inline 4 rammed against the firewall, more balance for the car and makes it easier to run up to 200mph with ease. It only has about 700hp (hehe, only) Depends what you mean by faster, the Supra owns it on top speed runs, but I believe the BNR34 will have faster accel (twin turbo 6 cyl..)

Oh come on people! U know the Skyline will win! The RB is the God of engines. I-6 cyl, twin turbo, and AWD. That AWD gives it more tracktion and a beeter launch from the line. Not to mention it was fast as hell with out suping it up. Base it can hold it's own in the 1/4 with 400HP cars. Base, Stock, FROM THE FACTORY!
Imagine more Power! Oh and jeff, dude, the Supra is a Skyline's bitch in top speeds!

this is not too hard to understand lol
The GTR will own it up until it reaches redline in top gear lol then some time later the Supra will slowly pull past it.
2.7L Single Turbo AWD
2.0L Twin Turbo RWD
doesn't take a mathematician to figure out which one is going to accelerate harder.

the Supra will take out the skyline no prob. that supra, puting out just over 700hp on its 4 cylinders goes 0-200mph in just under 14secs. then it tops out at 215

anyone who is claiming the skyline will win simply b/c it's a skyline, tt awd, etc.
that's a fawking load of shit.
first off, that car is a single turbo.
second off, the supra is a single turbo.
do you guys know anything about 3sgte powered skylines? not as rare as you think.
weighs less, faster, etc.
skyline owns the supra in top speed? really?
what about the JUN 3sgte powered supra that runs 250+mph at bonneville? where's the skyline that beats that? there isn't.
you guys are so seriously lame.
get off the skylines nuts. seriously.
do you have your own opinions, or do you just run with everyone else who says that the skyline is god?
it's a great car, yes, but when you start comparing these 2 cars, the top secret cars, all that traditional bullshit goes out the window.
if you don't know the specs on these cars, don't bother posting your opinion.
do some research, then come back here to post about facts, not your opinion of why a car is better. the skyline is not god.
i repeat, the skyline is NOT god.

GTRs are God's feet, Mr Clarkson said so on Top Gear :)
Most of you guys post your opinion based on what? Read some facts then post, its much more informative that way.
I find a lot of the post on these boards are brought down by the indviduals that posts absolute crap. If your offended by this, then I guess you know who you are, start reading;)

I can't say anthing about technical power, because I don't know much about the supra. I did see the R34 in a super street mag, and frankly, i don't care which is better. I would take that skyline so quickly it wouldn't even be funny. I have just always liked the body style of the R33 and R34s, and with that badass paint job and aerodynamic body kit, I would be in heaven!

As mentioned that particular R34 uses a single turbo setup. It is also geared and setup for drag/street, where as that supra was geared and setup soley for max speed runs.
The gear ratio of that R34 will take it to around the 300km (186mph) mark while the supra from what I've read about it is geared to more 400km (250mph). The supra was down here in NZ for the Option mag speed runs. It managed just over 300km in 5th gear alone and had problems getting 6th.
Up to 300km the GTR would eat it for lunch with no worries. After that the supra would catch it and then pass it.
Top Secret has a few supra's including two that are powered by RB26's. They are all twin turbo setup and over 1000 hp.
They also brought down to NZ two different cars this year another R34 twin turbo over 1,000hp and a Supra with an RBB26 with twin turbo's. The GTR ran low 10's while the supra was again more a top speed car.

Im a fan of both cars, but More to the skyline because its rare in the states..(maybe not in LA).The reason the skyline GT-R is not a good top speed car is because ya'll know its AWD. It'll take the supra off the line with no doubt, but then like many said, the supra will pass him and win! The blitz R-34 tops out like at 215mph and it has 850hp. Thats really nice for A AWD skyline. I'll still go with the skyline, the supra aint shit on it stock.
Isnt that skyline a RB26DETT powered?? It looks like it! I see twins!

it isnt awd at high speeds it turns into rwd after the launch. these skyline heads should know what i'm talking about, after confirmed traction the power goes to the rear wheels.

I think you should do some research. the 2JZ GTE motor has never been noted to be a rev happy engine. Something that is required in small displacement to build huge power. While I will agree Toyota did wonders in producing an engine that in factory trim is far superior due to a much better set of pistons, conrods, and rod bolts compared to the RB26 engine. After that the balance of power switches sides. Keep in mind the Japanese have been building and modifying both of these engines for a lot longer than any other country full stop. There has to be a very good reason that builders/tuners replace the 2JZ motor in supras with the RB26 engine when they want to build serious hp, which is anything over 1,000hp

and where is facts for that? while the 2JZ's bottom end is stronger then a RB's bottom end, when you start changing pistions and rods for a full build up, then both of them are the same strenght. however, a RB can rev to 9 grand !!!! and still makes decent tq. also the heads i believe flows alot better on the RB esp with 6 individual throttle bodys. now that is a work of art right there. and for those other GT-R lovers out there, a stock supra would own a stock GT-R up top. the NSX would own a GT-R up top. even though the GT-R has impressive high end pull, its just too boxy, and the required hp to overcome speed is this.
for every 2x's in speed, it takes 8x's the hp. but since hte skyline is blocky as hell, the Cf of the wind resistance will make it even harder to break the 200mph mark. so thats why it takes a gutted GT-R over 1000hp to just break 200mph while other cars can do it with alot of less. the skyline in my opinion is not a top end car. if you want a top end car, get the supra, or rx-7. the skyline is more of a low to mid range beast on a road racing track. and thats what it is designed for.

not sure where you see 2 turbos.
it's a single.
however. the rb26dett is the stock motor in the r34 gt-r. regardless of the number of turbos now residing on the motor, it started life as an rb26dett. which is what you'll find on the engine code.
the 2JZ GTE motor has never been noted to be a rev happy engine
not to pick nits, but rev happy doesn't mean better motor. that's all... and the supra revs pretty high anyways, no? what's the stock redline?

Yah,thats right, that wont always be true...
track wise...I think the supra doesnt have anything on a skyline in autocross(stock). I love the supra, the RX-7, NSX, 300zx, etc. Of these beasts, the one with the most power I've seen is the Skyline...The skyline also always(mostly) wins in the JGTC,folowed by supras, then NSXs.. But I dont really like ya'll somparing these cars, They are both great and they are like family.. I dont like Imports VS Imports, I would rather see ya'll in the Imports VS Domestic threads, helping me against these domestic dudes.. Well anyway, even if the supra is faster, The skyline will always be ma favorite.
BTW,do ya'll think the a Silvia S15 with a SR20DET will have something on this supra with same mods??thanx

no. a silvia with a basic motor swap and some mods would have no chance.
find me a silvia that's running 220+mph top speed.
there's not one in contention, sorry.
why are you anti-imports vs. imports?
import/domestic arguments are a waste. both sides are biased and don't want to see the other. there are very few people who are going to be able to see both sides objectively.
leave jgtc comments out of this. supras there run a v8. the skylines run a ttv6. not even comparable to street cars. sorry.
if you want a be-all end-all winner for your best car, you're looking at a porsche. you can take top speed, 1/4 mile, and your handling all in the same porsche, with no switching between tires/gearing etc.
but back to this thread. if you don't want to compare "siblings" don't.
but like anyone else, this is a comparo b/n 2 cars. if you want to see it as "imports vs. imports" go for it.
they're 2 cars tuned by top secret for different things. that's why they're not comparable. not b/c they're both imports.

I will confirm this but if memory serves me right the 2JZ motor cuts factory around 7,400 rpm where as the RB26DETT is 8,250rpm factory. changing the controds, rod bolts, and a cam kit with better springs and achiving 10,000 rpms isn't uncommon in an RB26 motor.
It takes a fair bit of rpm's to spool two large turbo's or one monster. As a good example an HKS GT35-40 turbo on a 2JZ motor won't see full boost until nearly 5,000 rpms. these turbos are only good for about 600-650 hp with the 1.05 AR exhuast housing. Put a T88-34D or even bigger T51R SPL and full boost wont be until nearly 7,000 rpms with very good tuning. That doesn't leave much room to achieve max power and torque.

well the supra competes in the GT500 class. the hp limit is 500. the 4 cylinder 3SGTE has no problem making 500hp. esp with that kind of money put into it. the reason why toyota decided to ditch the 6 cylinder was becusae it made the car too nose heavy and it hurts handling. so they put a smaller 4 cylinder closer to the middle of the car to make it more 50/50. the Silvias dont' even compete in the same class. they compete in the GT300 class. they are limited to 300 hp. so the SR is more then enough for that class. and the skylines now are using the VG V6's as an experiment and so far, the car is doin better then it did when it had the RB because the weight distribution is also better.
