Best bang for the buck mods? and body kits?

Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum and have a couple questions:

1. What are the best bang for the buck mods for a '95 GS-R? Cold air intake and headers? Cat back or just a new muffler? Etc.

2. What body kit(s) have the best fit and finish? I know there are a lot to choose from but have no clue where to start when it comes to picking one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your 4-cylinder has a single header, not multiple headers.

Intake, header, exhaust(cat-back) - referred to as I/H/E around here. I/H/E is all one mod. in my book - they need each other to work together. The best bag for your buck IMO is a 2-piece cold-air intake with quality filter. Filters make more of difference than the brand of intake piping(Iceman, AEM, etc) AEM is also a waste of $$$ IMO.

For the body kit, wait til the car is fast before you make it look fast. Spend that $$$$ on a nice suspension set-up or head/manifold/TB work.

What kind of power can I expect from I/H/E at the flywheel (or wheels) on a GS-R?

Headers actually do something unlike a 4-banger header. Header alone doesn't add much, only like 5-7HP. Honda designed the exhaust manifolds to be very efficient. Anyways, I/H/E 15-20HP, not a lot HP for your $$$. IMO the best HP gain for your $$$ is head work(throttle body, intake manifold, & cams) are very helpful. After that I/H/E would be definately worth it.

u are correct its a good starting point, but on the b18c1 its only going to be gains of around 10-12. they flow very well stock an show VERY minimal gains.

IMO, best mod for the money is a 50 shot of nitrous.

nothing else comes close to the power/money ratio.

ey if you want an intake go with a weapon-r intake system...there was a test done on all major brand intake systems, cold air and short ram....and weapon-r out performed them all...if your looking for headers....i've heard that DC Sports headers do a good job as well as HP Performance....sorry no facts to back it up at the moment tho...as for an exhaust system...HKS will give you the most peak power(if your turbocharging your teg) and that deep sound everyone loves to hear...Turbo Mag. Dec.2002 did a test on all major brand exhaust systems and HKS put out the most horse on a WRX...if your not turbo charging your car GREDDY would do the job for your teg...good luck

*note* i would recommend getting a fuel pressure regulator to control your A/F ratio, with those upgrades more fuel needs to burn to keep up with the amount of air flowing in and out of your engine.

save ur money an buy a generic CAI off of ebay an get almost identical gains as the weapon R.

3rd, buy a muffler that u like and have some 2 1/4 in piping welded onto it for 1/2 the price of the HKS.

What Is An Exhaust Manifold?

The exhaust manifold bolts to the head and brings the exhaust gases to the exhaust. That is pretty much the best discription i think I can give :confused:
