Of those cars, the SRT-10 simply embarasses them. End of story.

Hahahaha! The Viper is pedestrian....far from being an exotic in any way.

You call those entry level?
Then whats high end? :screwy:
And how do you justify it?
But of those listed the Lotus V8 king, but then its only entry level in price.

How do you figure? From a performance perspective it simply dismantles ever car on that list. The Gen III Viper might be more "pedestrian" than the previous Viper.....but compared to those cars, it hardly qualifies. Please, explain how you would classify the 911....

Very true. For 40k you get the best bang for your buck. Not to mention better gas mileage then all of those cars. My aunt drove hers to Alabama(were in Texas) and averaged 28mpg!

Exotics are defined by looks, exclusivity, price, among other things on top of speed and handling. The Z06 is inexpensive, there are a lot of them on the road, it is very plain in design, and its interior isn't up to par. The Z06 is a sports car, not an exotic. It is a great package for the price.
I also don't feel that the Skyline is an exotic either. It isn't that expensive, it is also somewhat plainly styled, and it it isn't configured for the best handling with that heavy front end. The Skyline is also to me a sports car. Also I only consider the Acura NSX an exotic because of price, styling, and exclusivity. I would never buy one though, they aren't that powerful and are too much money for too little.
I feel that the three best cars on the list are the Porsche 911 (996), Lotus Esprit V8, and the Dodge Viper SRT-10. The Viper and the Lotus I would buy any day, the Lotus first though, they are very inexpensive because of fools that don't know how good they really are. The lotus is an exotic in every sense of the word and is my favorite on the list.

I actually agree with you on the Lotus. I just drove one the other day with an insane turbo upgrade to it. Ive never been in a faster car that was street legal. Its one hell of a driver too. Maybe my opinion is biased cuz it wasnt stock, but damn.. ZOOM...
Never been in a top of the line Porsche though.
The Lotus beat out the OLD Viper hardcore, but the new ones...they are something else. The Viper is grudgingly a damned good car. <Hides head in shame> Id take the Lotus then the Viper. >Never see the Lotus in the states much ;)

The NSX has the exotic look along with great all-round performance. It may not be able to outrun most of the other cars on the list, but I don’t define a car by speed alone.

The Lotus beat the old Viper hardcore? Maybe a Gen I Viper, a Gen II Viper would embarass a 350hp Lotus.

Jaguar XKR

Mercedes SL500
Mercedes CL500
Maserati GT
Panoz Esperante
Dodge Viper SRT10

I have many issues w/your list...first off...the NSX...is exotic only for it's price and looks...sure it can handle...but for 84k...you can get much much better
Skyline GTR R34...not an exotic...just cuz we get charged 89k by Motorex to have it here in the USA...does not make it an exotic...sure it's a sports car but...not exotic level...
Jaguar XKR...not a sports car...a luxury sports car maybe...but not a real sports car...you need a stick to be considered a true sports car (unless you have a fancy F1 system)
Mercedes SL & CL...both luxury sports cars...more plush than sport...not stick either...
Ok...what you left out...you should have included the 911 Turbo, the 360 Modena, Lamborghini Gallardo and the Aston Martin AM8
Lotus Esprit V8
Acura NSX
Nissan Skyline GTR R34
Jaguar XKR
TVR Tuscan
Mercedes SL500
Mercedes CL500
Maserati GT

Dodge Viper SRT10

Yes but that 350hp Lotus only weighs 1200kgs, a fraction of the weight of the Viper, it's also midengined, and being a Lotus will out handle any Viper ever made.

I highly doubt a Lotus will objectively beat a Viper in a handling test. If you can find some info which proves that, go ahead.

Sorry I guess I was too vague.. The Lotus I drove was a HIGHLY modded turbo'd espirit. From what I was told it was running 800+ Horsepower. It was a BEAST.. thats what I meant by the Lotus killing GEN anything Vipers... Guess I gotta be more specific.. I dont know anything about other Lotus's to be honest.. Shrug.

I clearly said Entry Level, the 911 Turbo, 360M, Gallardo etc are not Entry Level.
The cars you have an issue with are taken in this comparison as a whole.
Enjoy.

Most people here know that I am a VERY big Mopar fan, but I have to agree with this statement. Lotus is renowned for their chassis. They are among the best in the world. It also helps that they are super light and mid engine. The only Viper I would say could out handle a Lotus would be the GTS-R, but they were only available to race teams and for that money you could buy a lot of Lotus. I guess well have to see what the new competition coupe Viper has to offer in 2005.

Maserati or Lotus.
The Lotus being the light(ish) weight, MR monster it is- embarasses the lot of them in the handling department- while the Maserati is a beautiful car with a great V8
The 911, Mercs, NSX and XKR Are also good choices for practical cars

What're the stats on the lotus, cuz the srt-10 has some badass slolam and skidpad (1.15g's!) ratings.. I believe the lotus possible could beat out the viper, but I dunno about being able to float around corners.. the viper you give a little gas and your back end is more than willing to come around.
