Well the subject explains it all except it didnt happen yet, we are planning on going out tonight with the 3 cars to see how they all do. Obviously the viper is gonna totally destroy the 350Z and Evo but its all in good fun. The viper has a few mods with about 480hp and the Z has nismo headers, intake, and exhaust. The Evo is bone stock. I'm very anxious to see how it turns out cause the evo and Z seem very close performance wise having driven both of them a lot. Well figured I'd let you guys know before it happened and was wondering what you thought would be the outcome. I'll let you guys know how it goes then.

The Evo I think will still own the 350Z...a stock Evo can run mid 13's...I think the 350Z w/mods will only be around there...at best

Viper's gonna own everyone though still...

Thats quite a mismatch with the Viper in there. You are right though, still should be fun to watch.

lol... viper? Why don't you just not show up with the other 2? jk... but yeah that could be fun.. I'm rootin for the evo. I think it'd be nice to see a sedan kick the s out of a z

WAY DIFFERENT CLASSES OF CARS first of all

viper is more comparable to a ford GT
350z is more comparable to an rx-8
evo is more comparable to an STi

^^^^^^^look up
he said there doing it for fun, if i had a couple buddys with some fast cars wether there in class or not i'd still do it.
also the 350 is modded like he said, the real test is gonna be a modded 350z vs bone stock evo. you probably know your stuff, they shouldn't be to far apart with those mods

Yup.. but slalom isn't the end all for comparing handling.
Oh and the 2003 vipers(srt-10) run 75mph in the slalom as well, and it has a ton more power:)
The viper def. would kill those other cars with it's massive power advantage(not only HP, torque too, cuz you wouldn't need to be downshifting all the time. In the right hands anyway it would whip em.

Thats going to be a close run with the slightly modded 350Z vs. the evo. As far as going through the cornering, you may have a tough time keeping up with the evo, but I think with the few extra mod's and rwd you should be able to stay, if not slightly pull on him on the straights. As for the Viper, give him the camera...lol. Post with the results, I'm anxious to hear how it went.

The Viper will murder them both on the Straights, the corners- both the 350Z and Evo VIII are at an advantage due to the lifeless Jeep Cherokee steering setup of the Viper- though the Viper otherwise will murder them pretty much.......

yea i heard about this... about the confidence of its steering or how it feels, but thats from people i knew who have driven it for the first time, not people who actually own one and have gotten used to it.

yes the viper sucks in the hand of an amateur....its a very unforgiving car....but in the hands of a pro it can do some amazing things

confidence of its steering? an unforgiving car? please elaborate guys. What does it do that makes it a hard car to drive? is it it's oversteer, and excessive torque that's prone to make the wheels spin? or what?

Why ask us when you more than likely already know the answer? I thought you knew a jiff or two about vipers.

I'm sorry, but when I hear a viper compared to a grand cherokee I guess I'm at a loss of words...

I can see where you're all coming from as far as where it's for sure not an amature's car. It doesn't have the traction control system and other bells and whistles as other cars do like a c5 for instance that make it an easy car to pick up on, but where's this whole jeep cherokee and lack of confidence in it's steering stuff come from?

I'd like to know to. A vipers steering will be quite the opposite of the steering feel you will get from a cherokee.

Viper will own all...and I'm going with the 350Z over the Evo. Bone stock they have about the same horsepower numbers, and the 350Z doesn't have to deal with turbo lag since it is N/A. With the Z's extra couple of mods, it should be able to pull on the evo...

I would also like to add that a viper is not a amatures car because of the way the suspension is set up. The reason why many people say its twitchy is because it's set up like a race car, with regards to alightment angles, spec. camber. Camber greatly effects how a car will lose control. WIth more negative camber, it makes a car lose control easier, With less, it makes a car quicker to lose contro, but effecting grip.
A viper is a certainly a beast with its 490+ ft ls of torque available at 3700(and a lil more for the 2003 srt model) and the way it's set up.
I believe anyone looking for a viper should one of the driving coarses that uses vipers, skip barber?
Oh and for the japanese cars, I go with the 350Z, it even pulls faster track times than a M3!

well this is from what ive read, and from people that ive talked to so dont look at me like it was my opinion. i heard that the vipers steering wasnt very smooth, and it had too much bump steer. the vipers steering didnt feel confident, like when you drive a car, even for the first time, you feel that feeling of confidence, cause everythings just right, like seating hight, steering response, perfect steering ratio, smooth power delivery, smooth shifter, easy to control gas, throttle response, and brakes, stuff like that. they said that the vipers power delivery was too brutal, and sudden, you had to be extra carefull with its controls. the car handles really good, but its that feeling in the car, or the controls that arent so confidence inspiring.

I have a 350z with a stillen stage 2 supercharger with intercooler, stillen headers, aem cold air intake, alum fly wheel, stillen ss exhaust, wiesco pistons, crowler cams, venom zt3 injectors, monitar prototype puleeys, monitar prototype k311x transmission, 17 by 11.5 inch Marko careem gel slicks and revo type s wires and seals. I am dyno runnig at 598 hp with 507 ft lbs of torque. Let me also add that I have only spent about $17,000 in mods, and i am pulling 10.8's in the qauter at 156 mph. I am still under the price of a viper and you won't find a stock one that runs better than 11.7. I would put my Z up for the test. Not only that but I got 10 g's that says you can't find a stock viper gts or rt10 that will beat my Z. Thats right I said $10,000 dollars. Anybody want a piece of the action?
