no i believe its either 5 or 5.5K. Do you still have the stock airbox on? if you do, you wont be able to hear ir kick...

the vtec system in the rsx type s comes in at 6 thousand rpm and you can hear it if you dont have you air box off but you can hear it better if the box is off

IVTEC is a staged VTEC, it should hum differently at different times..
where the old tegs (gsr, r) would kick VTEC around 5850 but you would notice the tune and pull at 6..

on a standard vtec engine u had one stage of vtec which usally kicked in around 5 to 5.5. I use to have a 00 civic ex. Then u have i-vtec which has 2 stages one kicks in at 3.5 then the really big change kicks in at 5.5. All vtec is if u have ever heard a race car idle it basically can't so its not suitable for on road use so to make that kind of tuning possible the vtec computer changes the tuning of your car in uper Rpms to give the a lil of both worlds daily driver and race car.

All of this is very true except the base model has one change over and its at 5500, the Type-S is the one with 2 changes, one is at 5800, the other i believe is at 3200 or 3500.
