D1 Grand Prix

Went to the D1 Grand Prix professional drift competition at Irwwindale speedway yesterday. To sum up the night,m simply amazing! Watching various cars bump and grind with eachother and eat wall, and have some very close and serious competition. I leave you all a couple of my fav pics that I snapped at the event... :smokin:

i was at buttonwillow yesterday(scca reginals) and missed d1... but got to see lots of pics that friends took.. looked like fun

Oh heall yeah Nate. I'm totally buying it when it comes out, as I missed some of the crashes, but managed to get a couple on vid though. Only thing the Option video will lack, is the smell of tire smoke, and the intensity of the crowd, but at least it'll have all the awesome OG drift footage. :cool: The place was sold out. They said that event was made yesterday the MOST people that have ever been in the city of Irwindale at one time for as long as they can remember, lol! 10,000+ people were in attendance there. Max capacity. They had to shut down around 4pm the parking and ticket entrances because of the crowd size. It was crazy.

That's cool! I'm looking to be out at Buttonwillow the first weekend in October with CSCC-S2 and the "Conefest 3" event they are going to host there.

I'm kinda disapointed i didn't get to go though. I live close enough where i can hear it at night so it was very tempting to try and go. A lawyer buddy was supposed to get me vip tickets for work i did for him, but i guess he'll just pay me cash. I would've rather had the tickets, duh. I actually had to drive by it yesterday :frown: on the way to work and it looked like parking was nasty; lines of cars around the block. Irwindale is sort of a small city especially in that area and i'm sure it had no problem breaking the 10k people mark. So many nice cars i saw just waiting to get in or in the area. Very unusual for this area. Got any more pics matt? those two were nice, wish i was there. :crying: :crying: :crying:

Man, I could cut you a CD of all the pics/vids I took at it as well as the collection of pics/vids i took at the RS*R drift festival that was in April. Anywho, parking WAS a pain in the ass, I got there at 2, and it took us a half hour just to get into the lot. They said D1 was the most people Irwindale has ever seen in it at one time since they can remember, LOL!

Ok, just a few more pics from it...

First is an awesome 4door R34 GT-R Skyline that was there competing (almost ate wall BAD during the first round, but he saved it braking going COMPLETELY 90* sideways which was amazing.

Next is the awesome Falken tires S13 (180SX) of Koguchi

Then is the kinda blah Tein 350Z demo/show car. Yeah, this car proves why the Tein Flex are NOT a performance suspension system. Get SS, HA (HE for 240ZX's), or RA/S if you want performance.

Then last is what happens when something goes wrong to probably one of the best drift cars that graced the track during the event, it was taken out in the first round, my guess is a tie-rod snapped. Eitherway this car 90% will never see drift again. Oh, unfortunately I had my camera in still mode rather than video mode when the wreck happend.

How much did it cost to get in? I probably would have gone on Sunday, but I had to be back up north for a team meet. Oh well...HIN was a blast!

Same as HIN, $25 bones. I had the $40 VIP tix though that got you pit access as well as ground access to view the competition from the wall that a few got close enough to crash into! :redface:

haha, hell yeah! For dates, to hang out, and that's where I saw BOTH F&F movies at when they each came out, the first one on the IMAX screen there. City Walk is coo, I don't go too often though since they want $8 to park there, since they don't know if you are going there for City Walk or Universal Studios. :(

Well yeah City Walk was a blast and I could see that being a good place for a date. I'm not sure if I mentioned it in this post, but I did in my "My Weekend" post, but you know that one restaurant/club...something like Saddle...I'm sure you know which one...the one at the end.
Well annnnnyway, there was this cute hispanic girl dancing up on the bar. She had a short skirt on and she was kind of giving guys a little something to peak at. Well this dude tried to put a dollar bill up her skirt and she turned around and slapped him.

Oh hey, I saw the hottttttest Assyrian girl yesterday. I didn't get any digits, becasuse I'm weak, but I'm hoping we'll kick it later on in the future. She was with her sister eating at this deli I go to. Well her sister has a 98 civic LX...just like mine when mine was stock. same color and everything. Well she wanted a new driver's side headlight so I told her I would give her my stock headlight so she wouldn't have to buy a new one from Honda which is like $200.
So I brought her sister (the fine one) the headlamp today and she's going to call me later on so I can install it for her.
Okay, end of story! Maybe one day I'll be able to get some pics to show, but this girl...fuck man, she's HOT. And if she only knew where Saddam was hiding the weapons...she'd be PERFECT :lol:

Yeah, the selection at each of the restaurants is limited, but you're free to see ANY movie you like at the theater there, as long as it's not an IMAX movie. Hey Mike, I'mma be in another car show this weekend. This time with a female friend showing off her 7th gen Civic as well! :D Anywho, it's the Paz Naz Cruz at Irwindale Speedway, it should be pretty coo! Free entrance into it also! :cool:

It's mainly a hot rod and classics/customs car show, but they have a tuner and truck class as well now. I was in it 2 years ago when it still used to be at the Pasadena Nazarene church, but it's gotten so big, they moved the show to Irwindale Speedway! :thumbsup: I don't go to the church though, I get fliers about these types of shows in the mail, and if it seems good, then I'll enter into it. Helps when this one had FREE entry into the show for participants. :D This is the 4th year of this particular show. They said they had space for up to 1000 cars in the show, so we'll see how many cars total, and how many imports particularly end up showing up to it. Oh yeah, I am actually SHOWING my car in it, this will be the 4th show I've showed it at. :cool:

I don't have an AF sticker... yet. :redface: I have on original PureHonda.com decal on my dash just in front of the clear plastic cover over the gauges. It's on the pics page on my website, http://phixion.freewebspace.com/pics.htm It's blue and matches nice with the silver I painted the part it's on. :cool:

I have a bunch of product/brand stikers of mods I have placed under my hood, keeps the body and windows clutter free that way, and still represents what makes my car do the thing it does. Only wondow decals I have left are a pair of Dampa-Chi (the Tein mascot guy thing) on both my rear side windows. Anywho, thanks mang! :smokin:
