NO, Drifting is not easy no matter what car you drive. If your driving skills are shit then you wont Drift well in any car. I suggest a lot of low speed practice where no one can see you.

Hahahaha, how true. I recentley tried drifting on a private track, and your thinking over all your techniques and what not, then your car goes at an 80 degree angle with your turn and you just think

*Oh god i'm gunna die*

Then your instincts tell you to ease off the gas and you spin out, very dmoralizing, so if you can get a private track, go for it. As for the Trans Am yes very possible, and also saves me from making a new thread about a questoin i had.

That question being, i know it is possible to drift mustangs, camaros and trans ams but has anyone here ever tried it?

you'd probably damage the suspension before you got anywhere.

If your car has more weight in the back, or low-grip tires, it is easier to drift, but the flip side is that during the drift, you have little control. Conversely, if you have a 50/50 balanced car with sticky tires, you will have more control, but it will be harder to start the drift.

Find somewhere like a parking lot, or anywhere with a lot of empty space, so that you can practice, and if you lose control, you won't crash into anything.

Can you drift on a wet parking lot/track?

Also, are the big Buicks and CHevys of the 70's good for drifting? They have skinny tires and good torque. Are they legal to compete in drifting contests?

You can drift almost anything thats RWD...

I've drifted my '86 Chevy Blazer K5 4x4... the fullsize not the piddly S10 Blazer.

It was only for maybe, 40-50ft total... but I did it... Got all 5250lbs of my truck sideways through a parking lot... turning 33" tires too. :cwm27:

I didn't expect it to break the tires lose going into the turn, but i rolled over the painted lines of parking lot and gave it just enough slip to break loose and off I went... Fun times... I won't do it again though once in my truck is more than enough.

My truck...

Holy shit! Someone asked about Domestic Drift.

You CAN drift a trans am and I encourage you to try it. Im curious to see the limits of the domestic cars.

I love boasting about the youngins we have in our group. Here are some shots of a father and son having fun at a local drift event:

They showed up to drag but saw we were having a ball so they joined up!

Hahah, well I wont do it again... a bit scary. Once you got the 'mass' moving it wasn't too bad, but its when those huge tires catch grip is what you have to worry about... hehe.

Fun times... :evillol: :grinno:

Well excuse me for using the search button to find topics that I want to post about. Most forums encourage the new members to use the search button before making posts about topics that already exist. I'll be sure to make a new thread next time.
The search button is there to look up information you want...............not to re-open a thread nobody cares about n e more........ :banghead:

Haha you know what, you're right. I been drifting on the track every month since 2002 and I'm a fucking newb. I joined these forums to try and spread information about domestic drifting and help people. But hey if this is how you people act then I'm out. Usually I wouldnt have made another comment since your last one, but you pissed me off so bad with your disrespect that I decided to go through and delete every post I made. These forums suck. See you on Drifting.Com you punk.

No, you cannot drift a '76 Trans Am. This car was designed with a complex computer system that prevents the car from oversteering. No matter what you do you'll never EVER get that car sideways. Don't even bother trying. The same technology has since been used in every front wheel drive car ever made also.

Ive yet to seen a room contridicitng techniques. Other than that a conversation about techniques. And I wonder and hopefully someone who drifts can answer this. Can you bring your car to a feint and then brake drift? Or is it a feint with braking? or is it a brake drift started with a feint?

See confusing stuff. Someone clear this out for me
