extra wire

I took the 5 litre engine out of my 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis and worked on it during the winter. When I put the engine back in I did not hook up an orange wire and I would like to find out what it goes to.
The wire is in the wiring harness that travels through the fire wall into the engine compartment on the passengers side then goes behind the engine to the other side and the harness has the wires for the oxygen sensors in it. The wire attaches to something like a 7/16's bolt because the end of the wire has a metal connector with a hole in it about that size. It is also only long to reach the exhaust manifold on the other side but I think it attaches someplace behind the upper intake manifold.
Because I figured it had something to do with emissions I covered it up and I have been running the engine for about 1000 miles. The onboard computer is reading codes: 22, 23, and 34.
Can you help, Thank you.
