i thought we produced some crap,w.p rover. jaguar, (worse now owned by g.m) m.g, etc etc, but you yanks have the most dog awful selection of crooked metal on earth!

i laugh my nits off whenever i sit and watch starskey and hutch for example, if you want to look at proper cars, you need to get ouy a video called 'the professionals', they have proper cars.

i look at bent/crashed cars in the u.k for a living, and they all look better than your models do new.

thank god they never caught on in the u.k, there's no room for them on our roads, we'd probably only get three or four on our tiny little island at a time!

cars should not be allowed in the states

they should be taken away from you all, and you should all have push bikes - without v8's

a lot [not all] of american cars are just huge piece of steel with a huge pushrod or ohv engine. No touch or feel to it.
On the other hand, most British cars have their own personality and are very appealing to look at.

i'd say that generally, my favorite cars are Japanese, because I lived there and really know a lot about them. Then the European guns. And then the Americans. But I have to tell ya, that there are some awesome American cars like the new Corvette Z06 and Viper GTS-R (which supposedly will come out pretty soon...) Also, a lot of people may not know this, but the Lightning F-150 is faster than a Mustang! Ford just under rates it because they want to keep Mustang as their Symbol.

Acceleration per dollar, an american car will whoop anything you can come up with's ass - in every other aspect, imports win - be it european or japanese.

Personally, weight and chassis design is everything. Power is something you can develop after. Give me something with well designed suspension that weights less than 2600lbs and you've got what I consider to be a "true sports car", even if it has less than 150hp! Americans are good at building "Musclecars".. they can't built a sportscar whatsoever

There are some great non-American car companies that produce some top shelf cars, BMW, Mercedes, Acura to name a few. And there are some American cars that probably shouldn't have ever been made. However you are pretty nasty in your comments but since you do look at bent/crashed cars, I guess that makes you an expert..

I don't know a great deal about British cars, don't care to either..at least not until they are made to drive on the right side of the road.. But I will say that I've owned American all of my life and have no regrets.. I agree with igor, and can assure you that there is not one Brit car that can compare to a Z06 or a Viper.. True American Muscle..

Shows like The Professionals are just copies of American shows. British cars of the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s were like little, slow copies of American cars. You only have to look at the Vauxhalls and Fords of the times.

American styling was the best (and stil can be IMO) and most influential. Their cars were big and beautiful, with effortless power. Look at cars like the 59 Cadillac (or any Cadillac for that matter) They were standard of the world cars, dream cars, full of character when Britain was driving around in dumpy little Ford Anglias with all the personality of a church pew.

And F1. Don't get me started on F1. I think, when you said: "buy all the old crappers from last season and make it straighter and more boring, the only lively bit being when someone hits a wal at 220 mph" you meant CART or Indycar. (That sentence was so full of ignorance I don't know where to start)

F1 is blown away by these sports when it comes to excitment. F1 cars are just 200mph adverts, theres no variety. American motorsports like CART have close battles for the flag, not one driver, well out in front. You might as well stop watching after the first few laps, uless you enjoy watching a single car going around a track.

And to say that American cars are crap because they're too big is pathetic. They were made for large roads, not the narrow, shitty roads we have in England. To use that as an argument is like saying the QE2 is a crap ship because it can't navigate the Thames river.

Just look at the Trans Am WS6, Firehawk, Vette C5, Z06, Viper GTS, Camaro SS, Grand Prix GTP, Grand Am GT, Bonneville, Aurora, Mustang, Lightning, Caddy STS, Impala etc. Great styling and a lot of bang for the buck. Gimme a Firehawk over your shoe-box M3 anyday!:D

But when it comes down to it, it's really just different strokes for different folks. I like my Japanese car very much, and wouldn't trade it for a comparable American car at this point in my life. Certain cars will always meet certain needs better than others, no matter where they come from.

I like the design of the old muscle cars it's awesome I mean just look at the GT 500, Cuda, Stingrays or Pontiac GTO not to speak of the real old cars (pre '50s) they are what I call a cruiser.

I can't belive that dude. He's just sorry that our cars are better then his. A Mustang, Vette, Firebird, or Viper would rock any performance car coming out of his Bass Ackward Country. Straight line competition or Circle track.

And that thing about us buy the year old F1 cars and using them for drag racing, We build our own cars for them, cars that England would not know how to build. I can't say I've ever seen a 6+liter engine come from there that was stock in it's cars.

I think you need to make a trip over here and try out some of our cars, Then maybe you'll ditch whatever weak little car you have, and roll around with a WS-6 Firebird, or a Hemi 'Cuda.

I like some american cars, however I like German cars better. I'm not saying that American cars suck, cause they kick ass but some cars are better. I like the Germans because of there engineering, they spend countless hours in windtunnels and on the track driving their cars to perfection.

I'm not going to say anything to the scrapheap man because he's obviously got the point and you guys told him tha like 27 times! I think that British cars are good but in the end, the American cars are probably better. They are leess reliable but more powerful and bigger. Have you guys seen most British cars? They're two door 4 cyl hatchbacks! I'm not hating Britsh cars because at the other end of the scale are Jaguar, Roll-Royce, Bentley, Land Rover and Aston Martin. These are the finer examples of British cars. I don't know who said it but, American cars do lead the way, many other cars are based off of or very similar o some american cars.

I wouldn’t call Land Rover a fine example of engineering. They tend to have lots of little problems with them!!! I do however think they are awesome vehicles. There are reasons that they are camel trophy trucks. I would call them just normal examples of engineering with high price tags for what it is...

dude, British cars have really sucked for a while. In the past and even till now they have transmission problems. My dad told me a story about his triump and how whenever it rained, it would not start and he had to bring out a hair dryer with a damn extension cord to dry the internals. I have heard the same thing with jags. not as much reciently though. But one other thing. America has more variety, they dont target only the fast look, they go for woman's appeal, family's appeal, lux appeal... ya see what i mean. besides, if you were talking about the british f1 mclaren, you better watch out for the American SALEEN S7, best looking car on the planet and almost the fastest. Check it out
