96 Suburban - Electrical Issues

Greetings all,

I have a 96 that has some strange electrical issues. I'm already a member of the intank fuel pump club and the intake manifold club THIS YEAR!
Now it's electrical. When the air conditioning is on, occasionally my anti-lock brake light, then regular brake light will come on then disappear seconds later. Also the fan will shut down for a few seconds then return.
On a road trip this weekend we got new behavior. Whenever the fan level was changed or the air turned on/off, it would disable my cruise control. Not just temporarily, it would only return if I shut the vehicle off. Even then it was only a few minutes before the sequence would happen again.
So here's the sequence:
1. Change of internal fan/ac settings
2. anti-lock brake light on
3. 1 second later regular brake light on
4. 2 secs later anti-lock light off
5. regular brake light off

Throw in the occasional loss of power to fan for 2-4 seconds.

Both front and rear brakes have been inspected and while the rears are getting low and need new pads/shoes they are not in dire need or nor have any issues (noises, etc.)

I need direction on what to look at. If I take it to a dealer they will simply charge me two hours of diagnostics and give me a blank stare.
Hints? Please?

Take this thing to autozone or advanced and let them run their computer on it. At least it's free and you might be able to fix the problem yourself. I'm also having trouble with my ABS light coming on and off intermittently. I just had a lot of brake work done and was told one or all of my ABS sensors may be bad. Hope some of this info helps.

Check and make sure all grounds are clean and secure. Not just the ground from the battery, but there should be cables that connect from the body to frame and the frame to the engine block. Also, check the connections at the battery.Loose or dirty connections can create all types of electrical problems. This is a simple check which could save you money.
