Closed trunk sensor

I just finnished building my custom amp rack complete with neons and plexiglass, but i was having trouble wiring the lights to go off when the trunk is closed, i tried using the trunk light(just to control the on/off function, and i draw the actual current from my amps power wires. does anyone have any ideas
