the Scion Xb is geared to the youth market, 14-16yo who will be in car buying age when it is released.

noone i know likes it at all, i think toy-motor is making a huge mistake.

You get quite a bit of car for the money... both in the xA and Xb.

my only possible reason to think that you guys aren't diguisted by this car is because it seeems like everyone drives a school bus i mean sport ute now adays what is the point of a huge car to roll in by yourself. it seems like the smaller the car the more you friends want to ride along!!!

I think the element is a much better choice money-wise at least it has a huge interior not just an ugly box like the matrix or vibe or this new ugly box!!! what happened to cars like the del sol mr-2 and not the new 26K version now if you are young you are expected to buy the hideous civic si come on that thing is a step back the 92-95 hatch looked the best in my opinoin.

But the Scions are still small cars that drive like small cars. (Though I hope their tires aren't as skinny as the Echo's.)

Small car + spirited driving = :bigthumb:

actually it is not that small it is about the same size as a crv that is pretty big . i am just kind of mad about the whole direction of the car industry to tanks that guzzle gas

xA: from Scion's Site (http://www.scion.com/drive/safety/drive_xa_safety.html):
It supplies high performance, low emission and noise levels, and impressive estimated fuel efficiency – 31 city/37 highway mpg for xA with either transmission.

xB: from Scion's Site (http://www.scion.com/drive/safety/drive_xb_safety.html):
It supplies high performance, low emission and noise levels, and impressive estimated fuel efficiency – 30 city/34 highway mpg for the xB with manual transmission, and 30 city/33 highway mpg for the xB with automatic transmission.

They're basicly ECHO variants. There's nothing 'guzzle-y' about them.

I meant like bigger cars like escape or envoy that get about 20, but now that just tells me the scion is going to be a slow big ugly box, i got no problem with the other scion just the box

I don't know where you get your information, but you have obviously never seen an xB up close. The xB is about 157 inches long, 21 inches shorter than the CR-V. The xB is a small car.

how much are the scions gonna cost?

Hudson

Both models are priced in the low- to mid-teens.

do they go on sale nationwide next year?

Hudson
07-10-2003, 04:14 PM
Yes...Toyota is saying that they'll be on sale nationwide by next summer with a third model being added to the lineup.

scion will do well because they have toyota engines. thats why i would buy one.

Hudson

Besides engines...they're entirely Toyota. In Japan, the xA is the "ist" and the xB is the "Bb".

I knew i had seen that xB somewhere before.

Trust you? The Saturn ION has nothing to do with the Vitz, Yaris, or Echo.

ok, i did more research and this is what i came up withhttp://autos.en.msn.ca/vip/jedlicka.aspx?make=saturn&model=ion&src=404 now scroll down to the third section it proves that they share identicle dash though i am wrong about thier chassis relation look at the interior of an echo or vitz and tell me thats not the same:wink: down to the air conditioning vents are same im not tryin to be a dick im just trying to turn around a flame from a mod.

I'm telling you that the ION and the NBC cars (Vitz, Echo, Yaris) are not related, not because some magazine or website said so...but because it's a fact.

The Saturn ION was developed by General Motors and is based on their all-new Delta platform. The ION is the first of a group of products to be based on Delta which will include the Chevrolet Cobalt (replacement for the Cavalier), the Pontiac Pursuit (Canadian version of the Cobalt), and Opel/Vauxhall Astra.

The Yaris/Vitz/Echo were developed by Toyota and are based on the NBC platform. NBC cars are substantially smaller than the unrelated Delta cars and share no parts between them.

I'm not trying to flame anyone. I'm trying to educate.

That article says the ION's interior is LIKE the Echo...doesn't say it comes from the Echo. If it did, then wouldn't his "prove" that the Echo, ION, and BMW Z8 are all the same?

Again, the Yaris/Vitz/Echo don't share ANY substantial parts with ION, and this includes interior appointments.

I'm just saying this because it's my job to study cars and their development, among other automotive related topics. The ION and NBC cars are not related at all.
