Window Malfunction

2006 PT Cruiser GT Convertible.
Basically the windows fail to operate, sometimes. Depressing any window switch may or may not cause the windows to operate. Had car battery checked, proved faulty and replaced. The drop down feature for the door glass seems to be working as well as returning to the upper closed position. No other problems evident. The car has been in heated storage all winter with the battery disconnected, and finally checked and replaced recently. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Many vehicles tend to have wires in the door jam break. It could be causing a faulty connection.

Another possibility is just a failing switch.

Thanks for the reply. I have already checked the wiring from the A pillar to the door and found all the wires sound and unbroken. As far as the switch is concerned there does not appear to be any problem with it. The switching function is smooth and because it is located in the centre of the dash there appears to be no dust on the back of the switch and water is certainly not a problem.

The dealer found the problem after a $700 bill. It seems there was a water leak in the passenger A pillar and water got on a socket, deteriorating the connections on about f connections. Bypassed the socket with jumpers and all is OK. Other problems associated with the same problem were failure to start and all windows malfunctioning.
This year had another window problem with passenger front window. It would only travel about 1/16" every time the switch was depressed. Also the window automatic down feature failed to work. Back to the dealer. He suggested I price out a motor. Well guess what- the motor only comes with the regulator AND a control module attached. The price $2200 Cdn. Yes, I said $2200.00 Canadian. My mechanic at the dealer said he would look at it for me and found that the motor must have received a power surge knocking out the window module program. He re-set, re-programmed and now all is well, thank heavens.
Hope this helps somebody.
