Extended Warranty on 2017 Forester?

We just purchased a 2017 Forester from a dealer close to our home. Dealer gave us the hard sale of an extended warranty for $3,792. We decided not to get the warranty as we thought the price was way too much. Do we need an extended warranty as I've been reading that some people that have gotten extended warranties were sorry they purchased them. And what is one of the best companies to go through? Thank you.
