What's Rice?

This should be in OT, but since I don't post there much anymore, I'll just do my posting here for us cool California people:biggrin:
Well what do you think rice is? As far as I know, ricey basically means tacky, tasteless, cheesy etc. I mean someone puts a HUGE Type R sticker on his hood, and he's driving a stock LS, then most would consider that ricey. But to me, it's almost more the attitude the person has. Like, if the guy has an LS, and he has this huge Type R sticker, but his attitude is like, hey this is my LS and yeah I've got a huge type r sticker...then that's cool...I wouldn't call his car ricey...but if he's like yeah this is my integra and this sticker's so f***** cool and thinks his s*** don't stink, then I'd call it ricey.
I guess, I mean yeah there are certain things that are just plain ricey. I don't think Altezzas are ricey, unless the owner bought them actually thinking he was going to fool people into thinking he has an IS/Altezza. I dunno...I mean I know EVERYONE hates altezzas, but I don't really see them as being ricey. APC Altezzas-hey cool...APC floor mats with flames-ricey.
I guess this thread should be more about what would make you call someone's car ricey.
And if you haven't noticed, this is another one of my ramble threads:biggrin:
What about conversions? I'm doing the BMW conversion...I don't think that's ricey. I'm not trying to fool people into thinking my civic is a Bimmer. You know if someone came up to me and said, hey that's a nice BMW, or hey, what color is your BMW...I might chuckle, but then I'd let them know it's a converted civic. Now if someone actually did the conversion and was going to swear up and down that his civic was a BMW, I would consider that ricey. Or if someone went so far as to put the emblem on...I would consider that ricey. BMW headlights and grills-cool BMW emblem-ricey
Well I'll probably have more to ramble on about, but I'll leave it at this for right now. Feel free to post your thoughts on what's rice and what's not.

This thread could start a flame war real easy. I see what you are saying, if you want to mod your LS and take off all the badges and slap on a type R sticker so be it, but it has to be done tastefully. If you go out and buy a type R sticker, do nothing else to your car then stick that sticker right next to the LS emblem, now those are the people that need the wake up call.

Rice is the tasteless or useless modification of a car, or making a near stock car appear to be high performance.

Oh yeah...here's my latest American Rice straight from the factory...a 2003 Hummer H2 piece of crap. Don't ever buy one. The first month my rear suspension went out, then the a/c, then I had no reverse.

riced out to me anyway is when something looks to be modified but is stil stock...I.e. people who put random racing manufacturing stickers on the window of thier cars and act all speed demon but when push comes to shove they only run stock and or it an automatic...LoL....
another example of riced out is when people have automatic cars and throw a body kit on it and pretend to be "racers"...whatever thats my 5 cents?:biggrin2:
