TS56 for McLaren Papaya Orange?

Got the new Fujimi F1LM (which they label a GTR). Going to build it as factory stock- in my mind, it's truly iconic and deserves not to be messed with. But that of course means matching the distinctive orange that they were painted in. A quick perusal of paint I have on hand leaves me wondering how close TS56 Brilliant Orange is. Disregarding the color of the molded plastic cap, the paint itself seems at least in the same ballpark as the actual color. Depending on the pic of the real car I'm looking at, it looks to me between pretty good- maybe spot on? Or maybe too light, or pale, or not right, or...? Anyone have an thoughts or opinions, or maybe better options?

I can't remember if I tried that color or not on mine (it's painted, not built).

I did spoon tests and my favorite combo was using decanted Testors lacquers; about 1/3 Go Mango and 2/3 Grabber Orange. Wish I had my spoon with me when I went to Caffeine & Exotics a couple months back where a Papaya Orange McLaren showed up...the show is again on Sunday, so maybe I should take them with me just in case the Papaya Orange MP4-12C shows up again.

Looks great! I've been suspecting that yours would be the first we'd see done. I haven't tried Testors lacquers yet (not surprising with as long as it's been since I've built anything), but will keep it it in mind. I've never seen the color in person, and matching against internet pics can be pretty subjective. Hadn't ever thought to bring along painted spoons to a cars & coffee- but now that you mention it, I may have too!

TS56 is the designated color for Tamiya's Mclaren M8A, and I'll use the same color when I build my F1 LM kit.

Don't know if it's of any use to you but I noticed in one of the kits that they recommend Mr Color #58 Orange/Yellow. I have that colour myself and I just checked it. Looks a pretty good match to the McLaren colour. It could be an easy option for you...

That's it, I thought there was maybe something I was overlooking. I'd completely forgotten about the M8A, and therefore couldn't think of why else Tamiya would have a match for McLaren Orange. But there it is- I feel better now. :p
I think that's going to be my solution also. After reading about Bob's adventures with Fujimi's little gem, I have also concluded that all I really want of this kit is something that will look like an F1 in the cabinet. When I can find a good set of Warsteiner/Fina marking for it, I will build an Aoshima GTR into a proper replica. But this one just needs to be close enough, and look good next to other builds.
Thanks guys!

Here's the old Heller M7 I built a few years ago using TS56. It might be just a tad too light but it's very close.

I believe that TS-56 is Repsol orange. It IS just a bit different from McLaren Orange but unless you see the two colors together you wouldn't know it was off.
