2003 XL 5.3L with a leaking fuel line between the tank and filter. Mechanic says that this line is only available in a kit that includes all fuel lines for the truck. Hard to believe you can't just get the one line. Can anyone confirm this?

Get creative. Think steel or stainless steel tubing and SwageLok brand unions, in metric or SAE to keep consistent (replace the bad section).

Got the line replaced - had to drop the tank to do it.
Now went to fill up for the first time since the repair. No problems at first while filling up than as the tank got full, the pump shutoff did not trigger and gas was leaking big time from above the spare tire. Never had this problem before so I'm assuming something was not reassembled correctly when they reconnected everything and put the tank back into place.
Any thoughts on what this would be?

Check the filler neck gasket/grommet where the filler pipe goes into the tank for not sealing, out of position or torn.

Just curious why it didn't leak at first while filling up and only started once the tank neared full?
