Engineered by Lexus’ first and only female chief engineer, Ms Chika Kako, the new face-lifted CT Hybrid further strengthens the brand’s leadership in the luxury hybrid segment. Featuring a new dynamic exterior fronting Lexus’ iconic spindle grille, the new CT Hybrid is designed to deliver an engaging driving experience through enhanced driving dynamics, interior refinement and ride comfort.
Borneo Motors Singapore launched the new face-lifted Lexus CT Hybrid recently. Engineered by Lexus International’s first and only female chief engineer, Ms Chika Kako, the new CT Hybrid has exceeded the benchmark of it predecessor, which was introduced in 2010 as the world’s first full hybrid luxury compact hatchback, firmly setting itself apart from competitors within the entry luxury segment.
Developed by a team of more than 1,400 engineers and craftsmen, the new CT Hybrid is set to fulfil two main objectives: firstly, to reinforce the Progressive Luxury image through bold and invigorating design cues as well as to enhance the driving experience through engineering improvements and an outstanding level of comfort and refinement.
Following the global success of the launches of the GS, RX in 2012 and the LS, IS and ES models last year, the new CT Hybrid has also received the brand’s signature spindle grille design and its unique L-finesse design philosophy while delivering exceptional fuel economy, enhanced ride comfort and a luxurious and refined interior.
The CT Hybrid combines a 1.8-litre Atkinson cycle engine with two high output electric motors to deliver seamless acceleration, supreme ride comfort and quietness, all while maintaining a class leading fuel efficiency of 4.1-litre/100km. CO2 emissions (combined), which is exceptionally low at 95g/km, entitles the CT Hybrid to a $20,000 Carbon Emissions- Based Vehicle Scheme (CEVS) rebate.
The benefits of hybrids are compounded in cities like Singapore with stop-and-go conditions and low average speeds, making the CT Hybrid the astute choice and the perfect city drive. The new CT Hybrid is available in Executive and Luxury grades.
Fronted by the signature spindle grille, the new CT Hybrid is highlighted by it front facade while maintaining an overall dynamic stance. The grille has been lowered and pushed forward to create a more three dimensional form, setting the stage for a sportier, more aggressive look. The restyled rear bumper and fin-style roof antenna make it as assertive from the back as it is from the front. Newly developed 10-spoke rims are available in 16 and 17-inch for both variants respectively. The CT Hybrid is now offered in 17 exterior colour, including seven new Lexus-first dual-tone shades.
The spacious cabin optimised for ultimate comfort has highly intuitive features that further elevate the cabin experience for an extremely enjoyable drive. Fitted with a newly designed three-spoke leather clad steering wheel with mounted switches, the new CT Hybrid allows handy control over the multimedia system without taking your hands off the wheel.
The seven-inch high resolution multimedia display is now thinner and sleeker, delivering both vehicle performance and multimedia data at a glance. Refinements in the interior finishing are applied throughout the cabin to further enhance its premium quality. Complementing the CT Hybrid’s quiet cabin is the six-speaker premium sound system featuring unique bamboo charcoal resin speaker diaphragms that are not only recyclable, but provide supreme sound quality for a sensory audio experience.
A combination of increased body rigidity, enhanced suspension and aerodynamic performance contributes to the new CT Hybrid’s agile and engaging driving performance. The rigidity of the car body has been improved with added spot welding, along with reconfigured suspension and shock absorbers to reduce cabin noise.
To further elevate driving enjoyment, more than 90 enhancements have been made to reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). Among them is the inclusion of the world’s first silencer plate inlet duct which works to improve intake efficiency and deliver supreme quietness.
