this maybe the sensor in the front of the vehicle. some have had this cause this. first see if the fuses are good.

I checked the fuse in the fuse box on the drivers side of the dash and it was good. Is there more than one fuse for the air bags?

check all the fuses just to be sure. then look for the front ABS sensor crash impact device . see if it is connected and secure. then go to scrap yard see if you can get one off a wreck for testing. if it fixes it buy a new sensor. post back what it was .

Needs to be scanned for srs codes.

I agree with Max.....reading the code will point you in the right direction....

Yep. Get the codes checked. While it probably is a impact sensor, it could be anything else also. It's not legal in my state to sell used SIR parts, too much liability.

does it take a special tool to scan for SRS codes? I put my scan tool on it and no codes came up. Thanks J cat for the suggestion. Local salvage yard does have one I can get for testing purposes.

Your scanner probably can't read SRS codes, which are "B" codes...usual scanners can only read "P", or Powertrain codes....
OTC makes a code reader, that reads Powertrain, ABS, and SRS codes, if you are so inclined to get one....

now if these air bag codes were included in a typical scanner/code reset tool available for a hundred bucks I would have stated to get this code and post it .. this code will cost you about a hundred to get to have a shop/dealership get it..
also my info reports have stated that the fuse or the front impact sensor is the cause with this vehicle . if this code will not clear after testing then it will cost you a lot more to fix.

I went and had the code read at lunch. Local Auto Electric shop checked it for me for $35. Turns out it was the Passenger Air Bag on/off switch. Picked one up at local salvage yard for another $35 and light is out. Dealer wanted $90 for switch. Thank you to everyone for the help.
