2015 Mustang Mach 1 Concept

Won the Revell auto show make & take 2015 Mustang that they were giving away (to kids) in January, and wanted to personalize it a bit from its humble beginnings. I decided on a Mach I scheme based on some photos I saw on the 'net. Despite my vocal loathing of retro gone wild and admiration that the 2015 Mustang is not retro, I put on a vintage Mach I paint scheme from 1969 using MCW Silver Jade paint, which made the Mustang look decidedly like an Aston Martin...no bad thing, IMHO! The blackout details and my fabricated modern-style Magnum 500 style wheels help to bring it back to the Mustang camp. I did a how-to for the August issue of Scale Auto Magazine, and the snap kit will be available right about when the magazine hits the newsstands and mailboxes. Best thing about this project was it was quick, fun, and looks great despite being a very simple kit. If it were the real car, I'd own/drive it in a heartbeat!

My simple fix for the headlights-"drew" them in my drawing program using a photo as reference, mirrored, copied, printed on laser, tinted w/Sharpies, and then applied behind a couple pieces of clear covers made from disposable Jagermeister shot glasses

Stunning work!
That thing looks outrageous... Maybe Ford should see it, and copy it full size!

Thanks! Side mirrors and rear spoiler taken from a Maisto 2011 Mustang GT. I bought it to use the wheels on another project, I think I got my money's worth :sunglasse

What a stunning transformation... Fantastic job.
Did your Magnums start out as the bling wheels from AMT's "Boyd" 32 Ford kit? If so, where are the outer rings from?
Regards, Dan

Thanks! Great eye, that is exactly where I sourced the wheel centers. Think they look slightly better on this one?
The rims are 23" Pegasus rings w/Pegasus tires.

Thanks for all the replies :sunglasse
Here's a photo of the model that my wheels were derived from. Thankfully I have yet to see one of those built "box stock" Had to remove a lot of material from each wheel to fit inside the Pegasus 23" aluminum sleeves.

Mustang looks incredible. Hard to imagine it started out as a quick build kit for kids. Paint looks great and the Mach I styling is perfect.
Nice easy fix for the headlights. Any chance you can post up your jpeg of the lights. I just bought one of these off ebay and your light printout makes the kit look less toyish and more like a real kit.
Thanks
David

Great! That green paint really shows off the pretty lines of the car a lot better than the red plastic. Awesome fix for it!
