Problem with 2007 Quest

I have noticed from time to time when I back out of my driveway, when I go from reverse to drive there is a delay then it bangs into gear . But yesterday a new problem, while I was driving at about 40 to 50 mph whenever I would let off the gas pedal then go to press it again the car would not go. The engine would rev until I let off the gas pedal then it would engage and go . Is this a serious problem or something simple such as a clogged filter . Any help would be appreciated .

I would start by first checking the fluid level is it full ?,,what condition is the fluid in ? is it clean / is it dark in color does it smell Burt, do any dash lights come on

Yes I had fluid level checked and it was full, but mechanic did say it looked a little dark but not that bad . He didn't seem concerned with the color .

did the mechanic have any suggestions or did he just let it go at that ?

He suggested I go see a transmission expert.

you may want to do that then, they can check out the fluid better and try changing the filter it is possible it is clogging, if when you pull the pan to change the filter you find a lot of clutch or metal derbies that will tell the story

there is a filter inside the trans, because you don't no much about cars, I think your best bet would be take it to a transmission place ,if things are not done correctly can cause major problems
