i listen to emo, punk rock, and some of this new alternative punk on the radio..

bands like saves the day, all-american rejects, sunny day real estate, fenix-tx, good charolette, green day, whatever makes my fingers tap..

and i skate, so it is kinda like skate music, but i listen to a lot of other music out there, like when I go to Dream (a club in DC) there is the hip-hop that a lot of my friends listen to..

Rock, Alternative, Pop, Hip-Hop, Punk, R&B, doesn't really matter as long as it isn't country, cuz I don't dig on country too much.

some of my fave bands at the moment:

Further Seems Forever
The Movielife
Taking Back Sunday
Thursday
Hot Rod Circuit
Saves The Day
Brand New
Weezer
The Ataris
Fairweather
Finch
Yellowcard

etc.etc. mostly screamo (hardcore emo), punk, and some alternative, like Three Days Grace. i also like rap every once in a while, but i only like the back-beats. if all rap were instrumental, i would like it 10 times better.

::takes deep breath::

Punk and emo is great, the now-defunct At The Drive In is my fav, too bad about the drummer of Mars Volta, they had promise. I have some "gay-80's" bands I listen to like Depeche Mode and The Cure. Rage Against The Machine is the shit! The Chili Peppers are awesome, Pearl Jam rocks (some CD's), Led Zeppelin...nuf said, Radiohead for the heady metaphors and eerie mix of tech and alt rock. Hip-hop rules most, acts such as the whole Anticon crew (Sole mostly now), The Rhymesayer (with Eyedea and Slug and the rest!), RJD2 the baddest beatjunkie next to Sixtoo. And for you Canadian heads, how about Fermented Reptile, Josh Martinez, and McEnroe? "Yeah, you know the science!" SAGE FRANCIS ("you know he tha baddest poet") will rock you pants off, for people that have never heard him, Personal Journals is DEFINITELY worth a listen. If you want to hear some really twisted shit, download some Necro and get ready for a spoken word horror movie, his flow is incredible though! Can't leave out Sublime, and for the spanish side of the house, Mana and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Mr. Lif with the "I hate work" approach to MCing. Aesop Rock, the lyrical fablist! Mr. Fucking Dibbs with breaks so unorthodox they catch your ears and and don't let them go until he says so! Metallica (anything before Black). Incubus, throughout their whole career (S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is my fav!) The Police!!! Bruce Springsteen...badass! System of a Down is killer. Whoever made the Initial D techno, mad props! Rabbit in the Moon along with Jeckyl and Hyde are astonishing live! Oh, and don't diss country...alot of songs we know now came from it and all of it isn't that bad anyways! Damn, what the hell don't I like? Well, I'll tell you COMMERCIAL RAP SUCKS!

Sorry for the long post! Oh yeah, listen to Sage Francis!

Currently I'm listening to Frank Zappa's A Ship Arriving Too Late

I don't like rap or country (to bland and boring for somebody with an attention span as short as mine, as well as too uncreative and stale) Modern "punk" evokes little response from me, but the older real stuff is far better. Pretty much listen to everything else aside from that.

2 strokebloke: wow, you must've been listening to the shittier side of rap (must be the commercial stuff). As for being uncreative...depends once again. Punk...it was never really meant to be super deep, just a venting of (mostly) teen angst. I do agree that the older stuff is WAAAAY better.

Tonioseven: Damn, that is awesome. What'd you think of his breaks? That guy pulls sound bytes from the most obscure places and he uses samples most wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole (and he makes them sound good!!!)

Everything and anything, yes even country, but mostly real old country, Ring of Fire anyone?
Currently I'm on a classic rock stint. Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Zep, etcetera.
I have had Linkin Parks' first CD in my car player for about 2 weeks now.
I have a few Death Metal discs, lots of the old skool punk rawk(The Clash!!!!) Classical(big fan of Wagner, Kill da Wabbit!!, Ride of the Valkries).

Hard Metal. Old and new stuff, i.e MEtallica ('cept the new one.. have doubts..) Pantera. Stuff like Tool i like too. Rammstein. Anything that uses electric guitars and actaully requires music talent to play with distortion up! :ylsuper:

Fairweather's best song, IMO, is Next Day Flight. get that one and i guarantee you will like it. as for Yellowcard, they're unique because one of the back-up guys plays electric violin. it adds a really awesome new sound to a great screamo band. look into them, they're great.

Lately, I've become heavily into Trance and House (probably because that is the kind of music I've come to enjoy making the most): George Acosta, a fair amount of Oakey's older stuff (particularly Tranceport), Iio, *some* Darude, ATB, Eiffel65 (not quite sure why, it sort of grows on you.) Plus my old "electronic" stand-by's: Juno Reactor, Aphex Twin, Orbital, Prodigy, DJ Shadow, DJ Keoki, oh yeah, BIG shout out to Robert Miles. Always have, most likely always will love the Industrial stuff- KMFDM, Thrill Kill Kult, NIN, and like a MILLION others I don't feel like reciting off right now. On the flip side of the spectrum: My main man Billy Joel, Savage Garden, certain works by Madonna, LOVE The Cure, and lastly most anything 80's.

Uhh Indy doesn't hold to one specific type of music it just means that the artist or bands are not in on some big label Indy = Independant which is basically what they are.
