D1 Grand Prix is coming to Irwindale, CA this sunday! Hopefully I could make it somehow, hmm maybe my dad will take me or even better my brother. Anyone else heard of this or going?

the one this weekend is the amateur driver's search, or so i've heard. it should still be awesome, but the one i'd want to go to would be the one on August 31st. the list of D1 drivers from Japan that are coming so far reads something like this:
Youichi Imamura (Apex'i FD3S)
Nobuteru Taniguchi (HKS S15)
Fumiaki Komatsu (Signal 1580)
Kazuya Bai (Signal 1580)
Ken Nomura (Blitz ER34 Skyline)
the DRFT FD3S D1 car (dunno about driver)
and none other then the drift king himself, Keiichi Tsuchiya, although i heard he's only judging.
i'm trying desperatly to find a way to go to this event. originally, me and a few of my friends were going to drive there in a caravan (2 240SX's, 2 AE86's), but apparently you need your full G license to do this, and i won't have that until October or so i think. the thing that makes me mad is: there is no difference between the G2 license that i have no, and the G license that i need to cross the border into the states. there's 2 very small differences, so small in fact, that i can't even remember what they are. makes me very mad.

no. actually we got lucky in that we don't have to have the signs. our licensing system goes like this:
G1 - you can get it when you're 16 or older. a written, multiple choice (IE EASY AS HELL) test is what you take in order to acquire it. a person must always be in the passenger seat of the vehicle that has had their full G license for at least 4 years, meaning you can never drive alone. also, you cannot drive on any divided highways where the speed-limit is more then 90km/h. you can also not drive between 12am and 6am.
G2 - this is the stage i am currently at. in order to get your G2, you must either a) wait for a full year after getting your G1. b) take lessons from a driving school, after which you can get your G2 8 months after your G1. taking the driving school also lowers your insurance rates. you take a road test with a tester to get this license. the only 2 restrictions on this license are: you cannot have ANY alcohol in your system, and every person in the car must have a seatbelt. you may drive alone, at whatever time you want, and on whatever road you want.
G - you get this after a year of having your G2. another, easier road test with tester is taken. this is the free-for-all license that you have for the rest of your life. don't know why they made the differences between the G and G2 if there's really no difference at all...
so now you can see why i'm so mad about having to have my G to go to the States. THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE to what i have right now.
