I live in America at the moment, I have lived in more countries than you can probably identify and I definitely give a fuck about foreign countries, the poor and the like.
I don't agree with the war in Iraq, I have made that no secret, but at least I don't carry on like you do.
I may dislike the actions of the current US government, but I still like America. I sure wouldn't die for America, nor any country for that matter....

Well sorry it started with the whole anti-poor mumbo jumbo.. magically. If you will look and read all the threads plz before any assumptions. I strictly stated several times i hate the US gov. for foreign and local policies and I want to argue with those who blindly follow the US gov because occassionaly some people are just unconcious of what the US gov. does and letting go of issues is just letting new issues come by. There is a logical pattern to be followed like a dotted map path leading to an X. If YOU had paid any attention to any of my posts, I have stated enough times that I don't agree with the US Govt.
The difference is in the manner of disagreement......it's all about the attitude.

I said you seem to hate, I did not say you did, but the manner in which you put your argument over it is the impression you have been giving.

I have noticed a drop in the amount of traffic around here of late, maybe people are just a little tired of feeling like you are forcing your views on them instead of debating, it is certainly the impression I have gotten.
We can disagree on politics and still get along fine, it is about how we place our arguments on the table that makes the difference.
I am not asking you to be completely passive, just try not to be so aggressive.

There is no need to get defensive now, just read what I said and think about it, what I said in this post is meant as constructive criticism, not bashing.

Despite your fanciful notions of the Republican party being wonderful people who do so much good, and are so committed to preserving the America way of life, they are just the same as the Democrats. They are the "elected" representatives of the extremely wealthy, and wouldn't hesitate for a second to boil you alive if they could wrangle another tax cut for their cronies out of it.

I dislike the US gov't for their foreign policy, especially in regard to Canada. The US gov't will screw over it's closest allies for the profits of a few corporations. Are you aware of how NAFTA is worded, or do you, like most right wing Americans, believe that NAFTA only applies to the US and Mexico, in a insidious plot to give American jobs to Mexican immigrants? Are you aware that the US placing a 28% tarriff on Canadian softwood lumber is in serious violation of NAFTA, and is an illegal protectionist action, for the expressed purpose of hurting Canadian lumber exports, which happen to be more efficient and of higher quality than the US domestic lumber. Isn't the idea in a free market capitalist economy, the kind you love so much, that whoever can provide the best service for the best price should be able to do business as they please?

In Gigatrons defense, he didn't ACTUALLY bring up the US, he mentioned the abbreviation once, in mocking Pick's beliefs/posts...

As for me, I am most certainly not "anti-American". My girlfriend is American, and I spend about 1 week of the month in Seattle with her. I think America is far too large and diverse a country to try to categorize in any way, as is Canada. My criticism of the US is limited to the media and the government, both in it's foreign and domestic policies. I don't think Bush's Republican administration is different in any way from Clinton's Democratic administration, when it comes down to the fundamentals, they do exactly the same thing... I am not aligned to either side, I dislike both.

If I criticize something, it does not make me against it in principle, it makes me a critic. Everyone is a critic, to some extent. If I criticize the gearbox in my 924 for having badly designed synchros, does it mean that I am anti-Porsche? No, it means I'm criticizing a single facet of one component of the whole automobile...
