2006 Sierra horn issue

I have a 2006 Sierra with a 5.3L, the horn only works using the keyless entry remote. Yesterday I discharged the airbag, and tore apart the steering wheel to re route the wires for the steering wheel controls, so they were longer. While I had it apart I was trying to figure out why the horn wasn't working. It worked fine, so I put it all back together and it still worked fine pushing it from inside the truck. Must have beeped the horn 20 times or so. Today its back to only working with remote. Its seems to work when its warm but not when its cold. Yesterday when I had it apart it was about 50-55 degrees out. Today it was in the 30's. Good ole Michigan weather, got to love it. Any ideas?? Anyone else experienced this problem? How to fix it?
