Hi- one of my bolts on the solenoid pack is stripped. It is the middle one.
What does this bolt into? Is it the case or does it bolt to the valve body.
-Van started leaking a little fluid when it got cold last month.
-Van had engine light come on while it was on a steep hill in traffic and started to slip badly.
-I reset the battery to get down the road. I didn't pull any codes. Later it shot PO733 but im sure there were more.
-van was slipping so badly that it stopped moving - no gears, no reverse, i towed it.
-I suspected hard part failure due to no reverse. I pulled the the TCM plug to bypass electronics and still nothing.
-Leaking at the solenoid pack, not terrible but steady.
-I changed gasket and it worked fine for a mile but then it was leaking.
-Tried new gasket, tried new clamps at cooler lines.
-Changed pack with boneyard pack and new gasket.
-Still leaking.
The whole time I noticed that the back bot was being funny.
I had put a new pack on 6 months ago that fixed some shift clunking I had. I super over tightened the bolts though. Turns out that I stripped it.

I used the wrong gasket but it worked for a few months because i overtightned it.
The soleiod pack I bought was a 2010.
This last week i have used up 3 gaskets trying to get it right.
I went to the boneyard and picked up another pack for $20 - 2005 pack that was one a 97 caravan with an inline trans filter. Good find.
I was being given the Gasket for the 1997 Solenoid pack, thats why I went through 3 gaskets without a seal.
Tonight im picking up the proper one.
The part number that I had for the old gaskets is;
04799844ab
The updated gasket is
04659982
I am hoping this fixes the problem. I still need to helicoil the one m6 x 1.00 bolt hole that i stripped in the middle. If it seals enough to shift it will make me a happy guy.
