Well add one more issue cropping up with this truck,at 77000kms the drivers side front wheel bearing decided to go out or at least make enough noise to alert me to that it was no longer functioning properly. At least I have some warranty left and it will be covered but I can't get over the amount of things that have gone wrong with this truck,08 crew cab 4x4.
When I bought the truck last December 3 of the door lock actuators had to be replaced within the first month owning it,the vent solonoid on the fuel tank was done within the first week I had it and it's been burning oil at the rate of about a litre every 1000kms.Also I had to replace the passenger side power folding mirror this summer and two of the door retainers because the rollers seized up on them.Even before I took delivery of the truck an issue with one or two of the power windows had to be fixed.
The last time I had the truck into the dealer for a misfire, bad plug, they told me that the mechanic was pretty sure that a new valvepan would cure the oil burning issue.Nope.That was a $500 kick to the nuts there, not covered under any warranty what a load of bullshit.Oh and they charged me $20 for one f'in spark plug, yeah let me just bend over a little farther.
Once I found out my warranty would cover the wheel bearing I got the truck taken to another dealer but unfortunately their stock is empty so I'm waiting for parts to show up.And to top it all off the last door lock actuator, drivers door, decided to crap out too so that's being replaced as well.
I know that I've been told that with robotics on the assembly line that the old adage of not buying a vehicle made on Monday or Friday doesn't apply any more.Well if I didn't know any better I'd swear this piece of shit was made by Ford assembly line workers. You expect a few things here and there it is a 5 year old truck now but I'm seriously considering cutting my losses here and getting rid of this thing.I don't usually bail on my vehicles like this but this thing is seriously testing me.
Oh hahahaha I almost forgot one more little thing that happened the other day when I checked the oil,the dipstick tube come free of the metal bracket/tab that holds it firm. The spot weld must have not been very strong because it's just floating there now.Yeah, quality workmanship.

the 2007 on up trucks are crap. many owners that got rid of their pre 2007 chevy trucks are regretting buying these 2007 and newer .
so many failures so little help from the GM dealerships. also alot of stall tactics............
oil consumption and plug fouling are big failures with the GM experiment of fuel economy with these engines.
this will be my last GM vehicle . got my first back in 1967.

I'm with you jCat, ead nothing but issues with the 2007 and up Silverado, my 2000 is super reliable at 243K miles. Won't be buying another GM either, IMO they should have let them go bankrupt.
