KIA Pregio: The Facts;

Hello to all; :evillol:
I have been driving a KIA Pregio 2005 for work, the last 2 years.
Here is what I have gathered about this vehicle:
1. The panels are weak, but its a light commercial so who is out to impress. Just meant for work really.
2. The electrics are not so good. In fact sometimes they are poor quality. Although I have only ever experienced problems with the globes (loose) and
the wires under the steering wheel, they can spark unnecessarily.
3. Driving whilst at a max speed is high to fuel consumption.
ie. over 80 KMS
4. MAKE SURE that you change oil every 7000 - 9000 KMS or the engine will blow. Some people out there say the KIAs are [junk] and the engines blow.
Thats because they do not maintain oil flow correctly. ALWAYS make sure that water and oil, or water and fuel DO NOT MIX, it will blow the engine,
THIS INCLUDES the air filter. DO NOT EVEN spray air cleaner into it, it CAN cause difficulties.
It needs nothing but good oil, Castrol or Mobile and an oil filter; RYCO are best.
Once I did not change oil until 8500 KMS and noticeable difference was made to amount of smoke from exhaust and water leak into air intake. BADDNESS :nono:
Change the air filter at least every 10000 - 12000 KMS. You could skip changing an oil filter and run a good spray of degreaser through it and
screw it back in but wouldn't make a habit of it.
ALSO with the motor oil, when pouring into the engine, at all times make sure that you pour it VERY SLOWELY. WHY? because you could form
a glut pouring it into the engine quickly and this could bend a rod. Always use a regular size funnel.
KIA did not spend a great amount on this vehicle.
- The engine is loud
- It needs to be treated REAL nice.
- Towing with it can do a lot of strain to the engine. :nono:
- The fuel pump may need to be primed more often ( see KIA pregio instruction manual) it takes about 2 minutes to prime.
Underneath is the fuel filter and needs changing at least every 45,000 KMS but thats with running FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER through it.
For best results drain oil using ENGINE OIL FLUSH every second service.
Best oil to use is top shelf, $40 - $60 but with good maintenance any oil will do, $30, Valvoline would do.
THE KIA IS A MORE COMFORTABLE VAN AT FRONT AND GREAT FOR
CAMPING, ITS A LITTLE BIT WIDER. ITS A GOOD VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PRICE IS NOT SO BAD AND
THAT WITH ROOF RAX AND OTHER FEATURES IS A RELIABLE WORK HORSE VEHICLE.
THE CRITICS ARE FULL OF [IT], THESE VANS CAN DO THE JOB.
JUST TAKE CARE OF IT. :p
