OK So I ran into a shifting problem. The car would not shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear, instead it would go directly into 4th gear. I ran the code and it came back to P0752 'Shift solenoid A stuck on'. I called around for repairs and it was a $40 part and 4.5 hrs to complete the job. I found a shop to do this for a very fair cost. On the average most shops in the Twin Cities area will charge $600 to $1000 for this. I found a shop to do this for $425. The transmission appeared to not have any metallics in the pan so he replaced the solenoid. The plastic pieces of the old solenoid were melted as if a possible short or voltage spike occurred. I got the RDV back and after a 100 mile trip to the casino it is running and driving wonderfully.

If it melted at the connection, it was a bad contact between the harness and the solenoid........not a short or spike....bad connection creates resistance and heat, which melts the plastic around it....and the contact carbons up to create an open.....
