I am changing plugs and wires in my 2000 ford windstar lx. The plugs that Canadian tire gave me are NGK Premium Platinum Tip TR55GP. These look completely different than the motorcraft plugs in the van now. Threads are 2-3 times as long. This can't be the right plug can it? I have looked online but alot of conflicting info. Also do i need to gap the plug myself or is it pre-set? Need help ASAP! Moving Tomorrow and NEED my van. Thanks

sounds like they just want to sell you some expensive plugs. Just go with the owners manual.

Be sure to use a plug that does not extend down into the chamber, possibly striking the piston top ... that would be bad news. However, the length that matters is from the seat/seat to the tip. Some manufacturers use threads for the whole length ... some do not ... this is not an issue. Do not overtorque the plugs.

Ok so as 12ounce said the plug is correct. The length between tip and seat is the same. Done the front 3 now onto the back! Hope this solves my problems and i have a running van for the move tomorrow! Thanks to all!
