96 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Strut Supplies

I have a 96 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.1L 145,000 mi. I want to replace the front struts but am having trouble locating the parts that I need. I need more than just the cartridge andthe is no "quick-Strut" available. I was able to locate almost everything except the Front Suspension Strut Retainer. Even the dealer can only get the right side but not the left side because it has been discontinued and there is no replacement. Thanks in advance.

Yes, Rockauto.com is where I was able to locate most of the parts but they to don't have the strut retainers.

I guess I'm not sure of what part the "strut retainer" is.

I've never heard of this either. But on some GM vehicles the entire strut assembly is odd. With other normal struts this would be the strut mount but that is not the case here. I got the part name from a few GM part assembly diagrams.

Have you tried a salvage yard? May have a crashed one you could get parts off of.

I guess that's the only option I have left other than something else used on ebay. The problem is that you never know what you're going to get. Even with a warranty, how many times do you have to instal a part, find out it's bad, get another one, install that one, find out it to is bad, etc.
