Dear Forum Members:
Does anyone know how to tighten the oil thing that attaches to carburetor (36 Horse Motor)? It attaches with a screw and nut and sort of looks like an oil trap or cooler. The screw and nut will not tighten enough and the oil thing keeps slipping off the carb.
Please help.
Thanks,

36horses--air cooled? year?
my 40 horse had no oil going to the carb. your oil cooler bolts on to the block with 3 8mm screws and 2 o-ring seals.......there was a fuel inlet [brass ]that would loosen up and leak fuel --you can jb weld that in. otherwise, i don't know what you have--

Are you referring to the original oil bath air cleaner that sits off to the side and attaches to the top of the carb? Usually a stripped bolt in the clamp causes that or the air cleaner support bracket is broken, loose or missing. You can put a couple of wraps of cloth based tape around the carb opening, reinstall the air cleaner and tighten the clamp but the air cleaner itself has to be supported properly.
