'94 Olds 88 Coolant Temperature Sensor

Have been working my way through a number of issues with this car. One of the codes was for a coolant temp sensor. Bought the replacement part - when I went to install it -the connector would not fit. Same style - only larger. Also the connector on the car only had one lead - I was expecting a two lead connector. Also - the sensor was located on the top left hand side of block (rear). I thought these engines had a combo temp sensor for the computer and acted as the temp sender for the temperature gage.
Can anybody tell me what I've got here. BTW - replacement part I bought was BWD-WT3000Z

There may be a seperate sensor for that car, check an online source for parts and pics, such as Rockauto.com

Thanks for the reply Max. Have already done that - from the pics and diagrams I've seen that while all the components are on the motor - the layout is different. I'm beginning to wonder what GM motor I've actually got. I know the history on this car from new - and know its the motor the car was delivered with. What I'm gonna do now is pull the current sensor and see if I can find any numbers on it. Also - I'm gonna get the block number and see what I've actually got. Guess I'll start there and see what happens.

Usually when you see a single green lead, that is just for the cluster....the temp sensor leads for the PCM are usually yelow and black....

Hey Guys- Just wanted to follow up. Based on Tech II info - I began looking for the pair of yellow and black wires. Sure enough I found the pair and followed them. The sensor was located directly under the throttle body. Never got an eyeball on it while it was installed. Used the replacement part to size the socket - felt around and popped off the connector. Simple job from that point forward. Definitely need fingers that see on this job. Thanks Again !!

Temp sending unit for the dash gage, not the coolant temp sensor that is for the pcm.
