2000 voyager, V-6 no spark, code P0340 error

This is the same problem that I posted earlier but since then, I bought a scanner to get more information. There is no spark and there is power to the coil pack but it seems there is no intermittent cycling to cause the coil to sent current to the sparking plugs. I moved the relays around in case one was defective and causing the AutoShutDown not to allow current to flow.

I changed the Crankshaft Position Sensor but it did no good probably because there appears that no signal is being sent to the coil.

I connected a OBD scanner and got a P0340 error. It indicates a camshaft position sensor A-Bank 1 circuit malfunction. Can anyone explain what that means? I would appreciate an answer from someone that has experience with this fault.

Dieterschmied, camshaft position sensor may need replacing if you haven't already but some detective work is in order. What engine? Have you checked grounds and all wiring and connections? Checked ASD relay? Possibly PCM problems. Check all this as well as the coil, with a multimeter.

My present problem seems to be that I cannot find a camshaft position sensor on this engine. It it is in the distributor. I don't see it.
The engine is a 3.0L.
I have moved the relays around and they seem to be working. The coil appears to be good; I am not getting a signal at coil connection that is suppose to intermittently ground the coil from the controller.

AT least three suppliers offer no cam position sensor for this engine. The fault seem to lie in that area but if there is none, I am at a loss.

The crankcase sensor was replaced even though I did not think it was bad.

Would the camshaft sensor keep the engine from starting as is the case for the crankshaft sensor?

From what I have read, yes the camshaft position sensor would keep your van from starting and I have read it is in the distributor on the 3.0 Mitsu. engine although I looked it up on Stockwise Auto . com and it looks different maybe their picture was inaccurate. Everyone advises to always check the wiring and connections before replacement, also they said it could be a computer (PCM) problem as well. Near as I can tell the sensor should be under the rotor also type in 2000 plymouth voyager 3.0 camshaft position sensor and see what comes up. Hope this helps

The cam sensor is in your distributor. Look for a 3 wire connector that supplies power, ground, signal. Pin one should have an orange wire, 2- black/lt blue, 3- tan/yellow. You have to change the distributor to change the sensor.
