I have to replace the vacuum switch but I'm having a hard time finding it. Does anyone have a picture or really clear description of how to get at it? Thanks

It would help to know that it is a 93 s10 4.3.

Not sure if this is the case for the older version, but on '95 and up models, it's under the battery tray. You need to remove the battery and tray to gett at it.

Thanks Mike,

The actuator is under the battery (that was easy), the vacuum switch is on top of the transfer case (on the trans, not on the front dif). I had to remove the protective plate that was bolted to the frame (took three minutes) to get at it. The hardest part was geting the new one threaded back in. Breath deep and stay calm...Your arm is twisted five ways...but I got it. It is slanted slightly forward at the base so it is deceving when you try to re-thread the new one. It would have been a help to pressure wash the area first...really well. It's not in a good line of sight (especially when your hand is in there, and lots of hidden grime can get in the open hole and also cause the threads to tighten. That creates a lot of doubt about whether you strippd the threads. Lubricating the seal and threads on the new unit made all the difference.

Thanks again.
