hi i had the bolt shear off that holds the AC compressor to the engine its the one facing the fan, the other bolt that at top from the side of engine is fine and the other bolt that bolts to the water pump housing been gone long time, but the one in front i had to drill out and i put a grade 8 bolt in 11/6 socket head now the grade 8 bolt has sheared off what the hell what grade u need to put in that it cant shear off i had put a lock washer on too so it wouldnt come loose yet it busted off now not sure if i can drill this out i had lock tight on it i think
so whats the cure how u fix this problem so it wotn happen again?

i have never had luck buying bolts from hardware stores no matter what grade. you can go to the dealer and buy the bolts and be broke or go to the junkyard and get them. i have a over tightening problem and probably would help to use a torque wrench, and lock-tight, and tighten it to specs. i don't know if its just me but i think bolts were made better back in the days. so i would look into a junkyard, and they are on-line too. some probably don't agree with this but it has worked for me.

Buy a bracket and the bolts from the junkyard. Replace the bracket and use a torque wrench. You are over-tightening the bolts. They don't need to be tightened as much as humanly possible and although I don't know the exact specs, 75 ft-lbs would be more than enough.
