Hi i have a 1988 Camaro with a v6 engine and it has 70,000 original miles on it. problem is that it is hard to start when its cold so i changed the fuel filter because i read it can be the problem because it might be clogged. so after changing the filter it started and ran really good but after a couple of days now it starts to hesitate and stutter on take off and thru out the whole drive. so far i have changed the distributor cap and the ignition control module but still has same problem. thanks.

Any applicable trouble codes? Use a gage and check fuel pressure. You might be able to use a digital multimeter to check for inductive voltage reading on spark plug wires, engine running. You don't take the plug wire loose and don't penetrate the insulation, just touch. as an example, if five plug wires read around 1/2 volt and one reads zero. I know where to start.
Is this only an idle issue?

the car idle is normal but when i hit the gas pedal it hesitates then it revs up it hesitates through out the whole drive but if i floor it then it doesn't shake or stutter. the check engine light comes on and off it just passed smog with the light on too. the tech said it is from a exhaust leak from the manifold. also some times theirs a smell of gas that comes from the car to not always. i don't have the pressure reader or the multi reader thing how much will those tools cost. thankz

It's hard to do any testing, without some basic tools. Check the throttle position sensor.

thankz found the problem it was either the spark plug wire or the spark plug. when i was pulling out the spark plug wire it took out half of the spark plug too. just the round plug thing was still stuck it the wire. so i changed all six spark plug wires and one spark plug. the car runs like brand new. thank for the help.
