2007 liberty transmission filter change

have a 2007 jeep liberty needs transmission service but the great canadian oil change says it requires a special tool. I can get the oil and the two filters but the special tool they say is required is apparently the dip stick. the vechicle comes with the tube but is caped off with the cap label dealer use only. i have heard u can purchase the dip stick from dealer but when i called they told it was the service department only that has it and they can not supply them. i found a link for one but they are for euro vechiles and not sure if is the same for a jeep as they were talking abouyt a mercedes ben. Does anyone have a link or sugestion. apperently a heat scan tool is required because the right temperature is required to read fluid level acuratly. This one has a3.7 liter and is a 4wheel drive. Hope fully some has a remedy for my deilema as it cost a great deal more at dealer ship after they say a lot of other unecary repairs are required to to a simple waranty check last time it cost me 2000 to get out of dealership.

I found the factory service manaual says to use special tool 9336 from Miller tool. It cost $72.00 and is a wire style dipstick. At the end is a guage the measures in 10 mm units. You must use a graph in the manual that gives the correct fluid height based on fluid temp. It states you must get the fluid temp from a scan tool. dealer put one in my 07 for about 8 bucks,out of 06 . said it was exact same transmission, tube and everything.said dc just trying to cut costs.think about it dipstick cost them maybe a buck?million dipsticks equals million bucks.

that helps but in 06 4 liters are required to change filter and 07 requires 5 liters as they upgraded the quanity and i think they may have added a second filter that is screw on

i had a link from some one on a earlier search that gave me refrence to miller as well i think it is the same number but when i searched it i couldnt find refrence to the actual dip stick it had seals and filter wrenchs for the 07

Why don't you measure the amount you take out,,,,and replace with same amount,,,plus 1 qt,,,slight overfill will not damage transmission,,,,,if too much,,,generally it will throw out excess from vent!!! any stick will work if long enough,,,as long as you mimick what was in it before,,,again slightly more when done...if you use a funnel,,,listen to sounds coming from inside of trans when running,,should sound like whurring sound,,,,if sounds like "sucking" it needs more oil !!!!! poor mans way of doing it!!!!!!!!
