ABS light, no codes

'99 Malibu 246K For on and off for a year, then constantly for the past 6 months the ABS light has been on. There are and have not been any codes, pending or otherwise, in the computer. There is a little more travel in the brake pedal than there should be but I put in a new master cylinder and new wheel cylinders, and changed out the brake fluid (bled out the system completely. Both calipers are new from within the last two years. (None of which changed anything.) The ABS system is still functioning completely normal, nothing out of the ordinary whatsoever. Any ideas?

If there are no Dtc's current or history in the brake module, and the ABS functions normally, then the Instrument panel cluster most likely faulty. A proper test would be to use a scan tool with special function capabilties. The test is to command the ABS light on and off and then command it to flash. If neither of these can be accomplished, the cluster connections need to be checked and if good the cluster will need to be repaired or replaced.

I've not had any problems with my 04 Malibu ABS but had a similar problem on my Chev. Cavalier. The ABS warning light would go on intermittently. The connector plugs that fit into the hubs have a very small contact surface. The 2 pins are about 0.5mm square if that. I can only assume that the Malibu is the same. Also, they live in a very hostile environment. I would remove the plugs (there are 2 clips on the side of the connector) and, put some contact cleaner into the socket and connector. Work the connector in and out a few times. In my case it fixed the problem.
